Help! Need a bit of an explanataion of my dream.

I woke up from a weird and confusing dream. It starts off with this guy I've known for so long, we've been very close friends to the point where you would've thought we were together. He and I have a really strong and trusting bond, no matter what we've always been there for each other. He's said he's love me a few times, but I've never because I've been too afraid, but I really am. We graduated a couple years back, and he went and did his thing and so did I, while still keeping in touch. So anyways, this dream starts off with him shirtless standing on the beach. The scenery was black and gray, with really big and dark clouds. Sort of like being at a beach before the storm comes, that dark and misty look. So I go up to him, and because I haven't seen him, I get butterflies and it just felt so scary. He finally puts his arms around me and hugs me. Firmly, he holds on and finally when we were about to kiss I see like a whirlpool forming around us, and as soon as we kiss I get sucked into the whirl pool and I wake up suddenly running out of breath. In a way the beach in my dreams and the whole dream itself, was like in a limbo state. Please, some explanations, clarifications whatever! I would REALLY REALLY REALLY hate to be the first one to post on this, but... uhm... maybe... you are in, some... kind of *cough* sexual orientation confusion? maybe? i would hate to suggest this but it is the most obvious conclusion.
