almost choked on the smell of my dream

I had a dream where I suddenly just smelled a very heavy cigarette smoke smell.. I'm a non smoker so is my husband. My phone then rang which woke e up, but even as I was waking up it smelled so badly like cigarettes I felt likewise couldn't breathe. Recently my dad died though and he was a smoker until the last six years of his life. I read on some other websites that when a lost loved one visits you they can leave behind a scent of something you'll remember about them. Anyone have any thoughts?

Strange, this would probably be better in the beyond dreaming section, I don't think it matters though. It's probably just you remembering him, random characteristics can occur about people in dreams. The possibilities are endless though

Do you know what was happening in the dream at the time? I mean for example maybe you were talking to a DC of your father... I dont know. Still though, sorry to hear about your loss.
