      hypnagogia.

I am wondering why, but I never get hypnagogia...even if I don't move after sleeping or while reaching a deep level of trance, whatever the time I spend in a dark environment.

I use it purely for problem solving with the story that I am writing at that moment.

I like to hold something with decent weight in my hand, I lie on my back and hold my hand over the edge of my bed. I begin to think about what I want to see/figure out. Then when I fall into a deeper sleep the object in my hand falls and crashes on the floor, waking me up to start the cycle again.

It works amazingly well, once you get past the point where your analytical brain shuts off and pure creativity can thrive.

      I do this almost nightly.

You can induce hypnagogia after awakening in the night fairly easily, or at least I can. It is a really ordinary function and everyone does it while falling asleep, or back asleep after waking up. It is many times too fast of a process, and people do not experience it long enough to explore and enjoy and learn from it.

If you can awaken at night or in the morning and just lay there feeling close to sleep and enjoy being in that state and just ask your mind to create imagery for you, it is pleased to do so. This is something I have seen in Lucid dreams as well. The dreaming and subconscious and the conscious minds all sort of playing with each other and trusting each other, and just having fun together.

yea i've done this. I noticed when I was young, maybe like 10, that if I am really tired, and I fall asleep thinking about a problem I've been trying to figure out, I can often come up with an idea in 3 minutes I couldn't in three waking hours. I often use this to work out something such as a snag in my latest programming project.

The fact is that I used to have them years ago, but never do now, and I can't understand why.
