      Question Your most memorable dreams

Have you ever had one of those dreams that just stick with you? Like a dream you may have had as a child, and you never forgot about it, or it seemed like such a real dream, you often confuse it with a waking memory?

For me, there was one dream in which I was in my room. My room in my old house had three doors: the door to the room, a door to the closet, and a door to the attic. When you went to the attic, there were various eaves in which we would store things. In my dream, however, at the far back of my attic, there was this vent. In real life, this vent could not have existed, because it would lead to an open space on the other side of the wall where the steps to the attic were. But in the dream, it was somehow a long tunnel that led to a series of vents that eventually brought me to the basement. In our basement in real life, you had the stairs down to the basement, and then you can walk around in the basement to the other side of the steps, so that you could see the bottom of them. Under the steps, there was nothing except dust and dirt and a small space. In my dream, the tunnels led me to the other side of the steps where the washer and dryer usually are, but there was a tiny opening to get under the steps. When I crawled through there, I was greeted with a short flight of stairs that led down even more, and at the bottom, a door that never could have existed in real life. I'm fairly certain I have had more than one dream about this door, and I always wondered what was on the other side.

      Any thoughts?

What are your most intriguing and memorable dreams?

I've had a dream that I remebered for years, but it seems that when I see a thread asking about it, it dissapears from memory.
Dreams that last for a few seconds
      house more wisdom
      Then those that last forever.
      It is always our nightmares
      that are the most vivid.
But if the vividness was taken away
would they really be so scary?

Here is my dream. It was very long ago, when I was comparatively yong- about 21, but I still remember the dream clearly.
I was at my grantparent's village house, summer. It was hot and there was a smell of mowed grass in the air (I still remember that smell it was very strong in the dream). I was in the yard, and was looking at the cradle which grandpa had made for me. In fact I was waiting for something. Everything was still and the air trmbled somehow, but I felt a tension in me- it felt as if something important was to happen. I didn't know why I was there, but there was a purpose and meaning, which were hidden from me.
One man entered our yard and told me that Vanga wanted to speak to me. (She was a very famous with her prophecies.) I went with him to the neighbouring house. An old woman, as she was, she was sitting on a stone stool under a shed and was very tired. I thought then that she resembled the ancient oracles . She looked at me with her blind eyes and said that she had to tell me only two things. I cannot remember the first, but the second was that "I will see the blue bird". I quitted the house, and stopped thinking of the prophecy. It was getting dark already. The man was with me and I told him that I was disappointed.
All of a sudden I looked at the night sky, and saw the blue bird. It was created of blue light and was flying magnificently among the stars. I was astounded and was experiencing pure joy and happiness. Then the bird dissolved slowly in the sky and disappeared. After a while I woke up.
Honestly, this was a very special dream, I believe. I haven't experienced such happiness in my waking life.

P.S.: Shame, but I don't have the slightest idea what this bird might symbolize or what folclore and mythology it comes from.

I've had some pretty memorable dreams. Been compiling a blog full of them, here:

      Dreamwalker Chronicles

I still have plenty to add, but these have been some of the most amazing dreams I can remember, for different reasons.

Perhaps one of the most powerful, though, was when I dreamed that I had died and was on a plane to heaven, followed by a false awakening in which I woke up as a ghost in my bed, lying next to my dead body. My parents came in to check on me and found me there, dead. Then I could only watch them from a few feet away - as a ghost that they couldn't see - as they mourned over my body.

Not the happiest dream I've had, but the feeling I got after waking up and realizing that I was still alive will probably stick with me for the rest of my life.

sinoblak, that's very interesting. It's strange how something that can seem so trivial in a retelling seem to have such weight to it in the experience. I wonder what the first thing she told you was...

oneironaut, jeez I can almost imagine the feeling. I had a similar dream once where I had died and I saw everyone at school mourning my death, but we weren't in the same room as my body. That one stuck with me for a few days.

mirui, XD I hate it when that happens. Post it if you remember.

My most memorable dream was also the only time I've ever sleepwalked.

It was from around when I was ~4-5 years old. I get out of bed, go into the kitchen. I look at the wall and there are two moons. One is a half moon, the other a full one. They make incomprehensible noises. One of them speaks in a very soft voice, similar to that of Luna from Bear in the Big Blue House. I wake up, start crying for no particular reason and my father comes and brings me back to bed. I wasn't really frightened at all, just extremely confused.

I think my most significant dream, if not my most memorable, was the first dream I can remember. It was shortly after my grandfather died when I was age 10. At the time I could not remember much, but I think my memory of it has only slightly faded in the intervening years. I remember everything I deem significant, and now I deem all my dreams such: you could say I have an eidetic memory. I don't, but I have the next best thing. So all my dreams are remembered, if not memorable, unless I'm disturbed after waking.

It was night and I looked up to the sky and I saw all stars started moving increasingly at one direction. It scared a bit.

It's not in my journals, but I once had one dream that took place on a rainy evening. There was this creek behind where I lived and that evening I followed for what seemed like a couple of miles. When I emerged It was nightfall and I was in an unfamiliar city. I was sitting atop a parking garage listening to the rain. For some reason I hopped into another person's car. There was a child who knew I was there. When I think his father came back, he didn't notice me in the back seat, but he noticed the child looking at me. I immediately, in a soft and direct tone, declared I meant no harm.
