      Being extremely attached to people in dreams.

      I'm really new to this site, a few years back I browsed this, and many other site's looking for, well, I don't know, maybe some closure & understanding about what has happened in my dreams.

      Every so often in dreams, maybe once or twice every fortnight, there'll be a girl, who as far as I know, I have never met nor held a conversation with in life, has interacted with me. Nothing sexual, just merely things like hugging, the odd kiss, and generally just hanging out & doing stuff together. During these dreams, I have the need for them to be with me constantly, for them to guide me through things. When they go in the dream, I feel down, unwanted & miserable. And when I wake up? I feel the exact same.

      I'm only 16, however, i'm very mature for my age. I have a job, which I think is helping me grow up a lot more too.
      I've had a couple of idea's about why this is happening, here they are;

      I've never had a long, serious relationship, so now i'm looking for someone to come into my life and never leave.
      I'm wanting to settle down (Not get married, have kids etc) but have a down to earth, genuine relationship that can help give me a sense of purpose and importance.

      What do you think?
      Thanks for listening.

      Re: Being extremely attatched to people in dreams...

      I understand what you mean, I too have experienced a similar situation as recent as last night. There have been a handful of dreams in my 23 years where this has taken place. At least two involved a woman character in which was so enthralling i remember wishing if only that person were real. Connections made because your brain knows secretly exactly what you want and are looking for to fulfill your life and answer your questions in the vaguest way possible.

      Last night in fact, I had a dream i had a child... not the first dream I've had where i was a father however the last one was far more comforting. This child looked just like me when i was young blonde hair blue eyes, i somehow instantly knew i was his father. The child was playing and slipped out of my view, when i saw the front door of my house i currently reside in open, I ran through the door but before i could do anything the child died in my dream he was hit by a car, and i remember even though i didn't see it happen i knew what had happened and I remember feeling more distraught then i could ever imagine possible. A horrifying thing for a brain to concoct am i right?

      I awoke not with a jolt of fright, but a lingering depression that set me off to a horrible start to my day, luckily i had nothing pressing to do today but it was just horrid. But i literally awoke on the brink of sobbing...

      I even remember after i had woken up, being so devastated i had to remind myself i have no son, i have no wife, fiance, girlfriend or one night stand recently enough in which to even have the start of one.

      I've been busy and my personal life has taken a hit, between school and work I believe this dream to be telling me that my business interactions are overpowering my personal.

      I've taken on large responsibilities i am fearful of failing recently, and my social life while existent has taken a back seat to my professional aspirations, fortunately and unfortunately for me i am a heavily social person and thrive on the company of others.

      These dreams i think exist for a reason, and because what you describe of your dream sounds as though the meaning is more so on the type of relationship you have with this dream girl, emotional rather then physical I'd have to believe your assumption is correct, that your subconscious mind is telling you that you may need to seek more meaningful relationships in life, so your dreams won't have to compensate.

      That sounds horrible, I really wouldn't know what to do if I had a dream like that! Let's hope it's the last like that!

      Thank you for your help!
