First off, I am firmly resolute in my belief that dreams are a way for your subconscious to communicate with you. However, I have found that dreams use language and symbols specific to the individual. A snake biting a snake owner, for example, would be a much different symbol than a snake biting a hiker. The pet owner might see it as a symbol of mishandling or distrust, whereas a hiker might see it as a subconscious warning and call for increased preparation in his hobby.
When taken to its most basic and rudimentary form (i.e. Dream Dictionary A-Z, by Theresa Cheung) snake bites are generally a call from your subconscious to reconsider habits that you deem "poisonous" to your lifestyle. Have you begun to reconsider a certain aspect of your life? The fact that its under a sofa might mean that you need to be more cleanly and organized. However, I can only offer suggestions. The only person who can truly interpret your dream is you, because you have an intimate connection to the symbolic language used by your subconscious.
What sort of feeling did you get from it? Where you frightened or shocked or insulted? What kind of snake was it? Poisonous? (You don't need to know for sure, just ask yourself what you felt it was.)
