Visualiation and Meditation - 1st or 3rd person

Not sure if this belongs here; its not only about dreaming and/or lucid dreaming; but its not 'beyond' dreaming either I guess...

Regardless, I meditate usually before sleeping, and I normally find myself visualizing in the 3rd person, I'm always outside, looking at myself. It is quite difficult for me to daydream or visualize in the first person. I have only really had one successful lucid dream, and if I'm not mistaken, that was in the 3rd person as well... it was like I was directing my body from outside. My normal dreams on the other hand, are a mixture of 1st and 3rd person.

      How do you all visualize?

Any tips on how to meditate in the first person more effectively? Does being in the 3rd person while consciously meditating/visualizing possibly mean anything about how I see myself (meaning how I regard myself - like a disconnect between who I am/who I should be/what I want to be???)

Maybe I'm just thinking too much!!

I definitely want to hear what people think!

You should keep on trying and eventually you'll develop the skills to visualise yourself in 1st person, if you can't do it then meditate a lot and you'll learn it. A human will become good at anything he consistently does.

What are you trying to achieve by these visualisation exercises and meditation by the way? That info will help.

Other than deep relaxation and healthy sleep, I usually visualize and meditate when trying to induce vivid or lucid dreams.

As for relaxation and healthy sleep, it doesn't matter as far as I know. As for inducing dreams, you're trying to WILD I suppose? I've never had a WILD so can't help you there. Probaly just practice! I think you're gonna need an experienced meditator's help here.

There's a dream yoga class, it's all about meditation and connecting it to WILD. Maybe you should follow it? Or PM sivason who gives the course. Here is the link. Dream yoga
