      Recurring non-lucid dream

Many years ago (in the 80's, I was a child then), i had a dream (not lucid), a recurrent one that lasted a few years. I had it not everyday, fortunately, but maybe I should have dreamed it about 20 times during five years.

I'm on the street next to my house. At the end of the road, far away, i see a big ball of light. It approaches me. Somehow I know that if i touch it, i die. I rush home and close the door. After a few seconds, the ball comes to the door and begins to force it. On the other side there's me holding for the door not to open. I can see a little light through the keyhole. This was always the dream.
In some dreams the door opens, the ball touches me and i wake up. At the time, i gave this ball the name "Pinha", which is portuguese for "Pine Cone".
I never knew the meaning of this dream, why i started to have it or why i stopped having it. What do you think of this?
Do you also had or have recurring dreams for a long time?

      Hi Dream-Highlander

If you go to this link and look at the cached version...for ease of finding a reference to balls of light (coloured green in the cache) you'll see that it's apparently a common occurance in SP

Thank you for the link. I read something there about balls of light, but it talks more about hallucinations or, as you said, SP. My ball of light was like a dream character inside the dream.

Ball of white light in Dream? - Yahoo! Answers How about this? Of course, that might be you who asked the question! In fact, if you Google "ball of light in dream" I think you'll find it's quite a common occurance

Yes, thanks. That's more close to what i've experienced. I didn't know it was so common. I guess i have to find my interpretation of it.

I had many reccuring dreams when I was younger but there 2 in particular that I have never forgotten. Both of these dreams were terrifying, although one more so than the other. The first of these dreams occured when I was a young child. I was dreaming that I was in my house and I was crawling around. Suddenly I looked up and saw my parents room. I tried to walk/crawl towards it , however, everytime I advanced the room got farther away. I kept trying but the room continue to move beyond my reach. Soon a feeling of great fear washed over me, fear of abadonment. I would quickly wake up soon afterwards. The second dream, the scariest out of the two, occured when I was slightly older. I found my self in a desert-like area. Suddenly my vision changed and I was observing a witch clad in black robes and armed with a bow an arrow. I would see that she was aiming ata poor shop keeper who was trying to make a living selling cabages. I felt a great sense of pity on this man. Suddenly I realized the witch was going to kill the man. I could see the light gleaming off the steel-tipped arrow but I could do nothing. I could only watch her let go off the arrow. I would always wake up before the arrow hit it's mark. I'm not entirely sure why this dream frightened me so much, but it did. Anyway, I kept having these dreams from time to time but after a few years they stopped. Reccuring dreams are completely natural and seem to happen more often when we are children than adults. (Sorry about the wall of text, I'll fix it once I can get on my computer)
