Do you draw your dreams or write about them, and turn them into stories?

As an artist, I've been drawing my dreams, and it's crazy how realistic the dreams look, like I'm having the dream all over again. It's probably not all that accurate, but to have an idea of what your dreams look like on paper is cool. That is of course unless it's a good dream. Like I had this dream I was eating cake with wine poured on it, so I drew that and I was getting hungry lol.

Do u turn your dreams into full-length stories or drawings?

I don't really draw or write a story but I see a HUGE possibility to work with dreams in that way. You can use dreams for really anything I personally like taking a dream and finding a meaning behind it.

I've done doodles of some of my favorite video game related dreams before. It was a lot of fun! ^_^ Maybe i'll do something like that again sometime xD

Yesyesyes oh my god yes. I have several stories, all of which were from/budded from dreams I've had. Funny enough, the few stories not inspired from dreams are the ones that failed hahaha. I also have a few illustration projects of particularly striking dreams I've had.

Sounds like a great idea. I'm actually a writer of fiction on another website, but the problem is I've had nothing to write about lately. Perhaps lucid dreaming will be able to help me with that and I can write the experiences, with a fictional character and plot changes of course.

      Hello family,

I have been writing about the dreams I have had for a few years now and I have accumulated over 400 pages of dream stories. The stories are remarkable as I know that I wouldn't be able to write these stories if it wasn't for the dreams. I am not a professional writer and I have absolutely no talent when it comes to putting stories together. So, I know the dreaming has everything to do with creativity and the 400 pages.

It's really remarkable to look back on all the pages as they add up.

I like to write as much detail as I can and whenever it's appropriate, try to draw a picture to get a better metaphor or try to depict the scene as good as I can. Sometimes one look at the drawing will bring it all back, which is why I like to do that as much as possible. Pictures DO encompass many many words all at once. Though I can't really give intimate details with em, so I have a good mix of writing and drawings

I don't but I've always liked the idea of writing stories about my more elaborate dreams, using the plot of the dream as a base for the plot of the story, but I've never actually gotten around to it. I definitely plan on using my dreams as inspiration for creating 3D Art at some point, but again, I haven't yet.

Yes, I often write about my dreams. Doesn't work out too well with nightmares, though, what's scary in a dream can be just silly in a story.

I was looking at Carl Jung's Red Book on Amazon the other day. Jung called it his "confrontation with the unconscious":

The Red Book: C. G. Jung, Sonu Shamdasani, Mark Kyburz, John Peck: 9780393065671: Amazon.com: Books

Here is one of his illustrations:

      Jung-1.jpg

It has all the beauty of an illustrated manuscript. Beautiful calligraphy and artwork.

When we have a special dream we should probably give it special treatment, not just recording the dream in our DJ, but celebrating it in the way that Jung does here.

Maybe someone should start a User Forum for Illustrated Dream Journal Entries. We have many talented artist here at DV.

I can't draw worth a crap but at one point I had this idea to write a book using concepts, events, and characters from my dreams. The idea was to have the main character who was kind of but kind of not a representation of me, get so immersed in the dream world that it bled into his reality and it would be anyone's best guess on whether he was going crazy or if this particular character was a real entity whom he just happened to stumble across inside a dream... That particular character was based of course on a mysterious DC who appeared in several of my dreams. I think I wrote around 1000 words and gave up, lol.

I had wondered if anyone else had similar ideas to incorporate their dreams into stories.
