Question Share Your Famous Recurring Dream!

In all my years of being an experienced dreamer, I've only ever had 1 dream recur that I can fully recall. It's probably not even the 'Text Book' definition of a recurring dream either. The location was identical, however nearing the end of the dream, it led off into a different course. Anyways, I thought it'd be interesting to hear some recurring dreams from people who're willing to share. (nLD's of course) So, insignificant or not, don't hesitate to post it!

When I was younger, I used to have natural disaster dreams a lot. Most of them involved lava and my family dying; others were tsunamis or earthquakes. I don't have them anymore (thank goodness) but they scared the living daylights out of me back then.

Forgetting to do my homework or study for a test. I'm not a student anymore but I have these dreams regularly.

When I was much younger perhaps 4-5, I use to have 3-5 recurring dreams, coincidentally this started my lucid dreaming journey realizing when I was dreaming.

1#(estate of fear) If I had my hand off the side of my bed or my ear on my pillow In a certain manner which resulted in me hear my heartbeat I would have this particular reoccurring dream, where I Would be in an old two story manor/estate filled with many doors, and long narrow hallways. I had to choose to go into a door and In nearly all of the doors there would be some type of monster or a sinister feeling, so I would run round frantically around the building also each room had another door leading to another room and so on.

2#(never ending stairs) I was a baby in a diaper crawling up stairs, I would crawl endlessly but never reach the top.

3# I was walking or sitting in the street, a ferocious dog notices me and attacks me (something similar to a Pitbull) It literately eats me until I am nothing, I never was able to move or talk during the attacks, I remember feeling sheer terror and panic every time, one time I realized it was a dream and there was nothing to fear and just observed the dog kill me without any feeling of panic, just observing it. not sure if it kept reoccurring after that, was a long time ago.

4# I'm about to enter a building I'm outside in the dream it's usually raining, night time when a DC walks past notices me then try's to fight/kill me I run, but unfortunately I can only run/fight in slow motion.

@AtralMango - Yeah, That would be pretty terrifying, lol. I've had a couple dreams (non-recurring) that are pretty gruesome and horrific. One in particular, my dad was ripped to sheds by a bear in front of me... Yeah, you try to not think about those dream too much It's good these dreams aren't a regular thing for you any more though!

@Anju - Haha, I find this pretty funny to be honest. The fear of not being prepared for a test or uncompleted HW must be pretty drilled into your mind if they recur even after you've gotten out of schooling.

This is really interesting. I've already noticed that most peoples recurring dreams are due to them being arisen out of manifested fear/anxiety, etc. Though, a certain physical trigger is different. Did you know the dream would come back again if you did those certain things? Or did you come to that realization after some time?

, a ferocious dog notices me and attacks me (something similar to a Pitbull) It literately eats me until I am nothing, I never was able to move or talk during the attacks, I remember feeling sheer terror and panic every time, one time I realized it was a dream and there was nothing to fear and just observed the dog kill me without any feeling of panic, just observing it.
This would be pretty scary. However the part where you had some awareness and suppressed your fears is what's really cool. I bet observing such a thing happen to your body was an experience and a half.

unfortunately I can only run/fight in slow motion.
Oh boy do I ever feel your pain. This happens a lot in my regular dreams. ALWAYS when I'm fighting someone too. Such a pain in the ass. Because it's just SO easy to defend yourself when it's like your running through quicksand and each of your arms now weigh 200lbs. Thanks a lot brain, I appreciate it.

Thanks for the quick replies guys!

Haha, yeah that's a funny little comic, it suits your situation perfectly. Love how he catches on during the dream. WTH, I graduated !

I bet if you wanted, you could turn this dream into an easy lucid trigger.

I know... I had a dream exactly like this, in which I remembered my graduation day and woke up. Sometimes I remember events that happened after college, like my friends getting married. I didn't become lucid though.

Most of my recurring dreams involve filthy restrooms. It could be at school, work, a park or wherever but the restroom is cmpletely trashed and sometimes the floor is caving in at spots.

It is getting to the point where I almost become lucid in such dreams. Last time I remember having one - I was in this nice clean restroom and thought, "OK this is a dream, something is going to go wrong". Sure enough, on top of the plumbing on top of each toilet, there was a poop laying there. I thought, "Well, I almost made it through this one without incident".

I guess such dreams have to do with negative feelings.
