Thread: Reoccurring theme: Ocean

I had a dream last night and I've had several that were similar. I was at the ocean. I live far inland, but I have been to visit it several times. In the dream I was standing just in the surf, with the waves running up the shore just far enough to touch my feet. I remember feeling so at peace, so happy. I woke up into another dream and I was telling my mother about my ocean dream. I was nearly in tears for longing to go back to the ocean. I was upset that I couldn't stay longer or get closer to it. I was frustrated because in this dream I remembered the other dreams I'd had where I struggled to get close to the shore, but couldn't (I was stuck on land).

The funniest thing is that, while I do love being near the ocean in waking life, I don't feel anything like as passionate as I did in my dream. I am wondering what is the ocean symbolizing that is causing me to dream of it over and over with such longing. What do you think?
