Creative / sci fi - type / wonderful worldly dreams

Hi fellow dreamers, or should I say humans,

I feel like for a quite long time, my dreams are not very "Creative / sci fi - type / wonderful worldly" if you know what I mean. If you don't, I would like my dreams to take in some crazy, fantasy world. I feel like all my dreams could (more or less) really happen in the waking life.

I am sure their is methods or some kind of "tricks" to help me do some more crazy-like dreams. If some of you have some knowledge to share, I would gladly hear it.

      thank you !

Yes, I also noticed that when I start practicing LDing I have less "creative / fantasy" dream content... I think it's mostly due to these two reasons:

      1. most importantly, practicing LDing hugely increases my dream recall, so I remember many more dreams per night than without practice. Without practice I think I would remember mostly the "creative / fantasy" dreams - they are just more memorable. So by increasing recall, the percentage of "creative / fantasy" dreams seems to drop comparing to all the dreams recalled. But it's more of a bias - because now I simply remember dreams that I wouldn't without the practice...

      2. maybe practicing LDing increases the realism of dream? I find it likely, since a large part of it is questioning reality and such, so the dreams grow to be more life-like not only in quality but in plot too.

About how to deal with it, and force more creative fantasy storylines - like cooleymd said, once you're lucid teleporting / creating a brand new scene is one of the best bets (trying to change existing scenes is harder). Going thru mirrors / screens can be also great, since at least in my experience, they lead to a great variety of craziness. But without being lucid in the first place you can't do these... Without lucidity, I think that the best ways to induce creative dreams is using mantras and dream incubation (focusing on creative plot), or maybe just watching a lot of SciFi / fantasy shows and thinking about these themes a lot throughout the day.

I think the content of dreams revolves around conflict. It can be trivial things or fantastic things. But there must be conflict because we have an innate desire to resolve the unknown. That is the role of dreams: to explore the unknown in search of resolution. Maybe you find resolution, or maybe it opens up into a new conflict. Or maybe you think you get stuck in a paradox. It's all a process and journey of moving forward.

So, what I suggest is to introduce something new. New things bring new conflict. Conflict doesn't have to be a bad thing. It's just an uncertainty about how it might be resolved. And that sparks the dream world to explore the uncertainty. As a counter-example, suppose you like Harry Potter and want to dream about that universe. But if you keep feeding your mind Harry Potter then there is a likelihood that your unconscious will just ignore it as "same shit, different day."

Now, very specifically, I suggest exploring some new and different fiction or ideas. It could be to watch a new genre of movies or TV that you didn't previously like. Read a book that is outside your comfort zone. Or read about some philosophy that is novel. The point is to invite some new ideas, especially ones that are new or conflicting with your own.

Finally, the magic of how this works is that your dreams will explore the conflict through existing idioms. Let's recall the example of Harry Potter. And suppose you read a very different book like The Great Gatsby. The book introduces new ideas and conflicts. So your dreaming mind tries to resolve them through existing archetypes, which may include Harry Potter or other more fantastical universes.
I am sure about illusion. I am not so sure about reality.
