      Dream journaling is demotivating

Hi! I've recently returned to lucid dreaming after a long break on about 7 months. Every time I ask myself: "Do I truly want to have lucid dreams and is it really worth all the effort?" I come to the conclusion that 'yes' is the only honest answer to that question. I regularly return to this site and give it all I've got to start dreaming but I always end up with the same problem.

It is SO demotivating to have to write down all my dreams every single day. It's one of the most important things when it comes to lucid dreaming but also the hardest (for me).
I often wake up in the morning being unable to recall anything and even when I remember something, I rarely have time to write it down and then I just don't bother to write my long, detailed dreams down when I get home from school.
I have a strong desire to have lucid dreams and it is definitely worth all the effort that it takes but for some reason I just can't seem to get myself to stay persistent when it comes to journaling my dreams, no matter how hard I try.

Having to write down my dreams always ends up being the reason that I give up on dreaming, and I think I'm about to run into the same problem once again.
would REALLY appreciate it if anyone could help me somehow get through this

      tl;dr
Lucid dreaming is amazing and I really want it to be a part of my life so I'm looking for a miracle person who can help me achieve it.

Is it one of the most important things to do to become lucid? Recall is one of the most important, and it is one of the biggest ways to get recall, but it is not the only way. I have not DJed since 6 months after I started LDing, because I used this technique:
      http://www.dreamviews.com/dream-sign...m-journal.html

It is basically a way to DJ to make yourself not need to rely on DJing.

Also, there is only one person that is in charge of how much you lucid dream.

Similar to what Sensei said you can just write down little 'tags' of whatever you remember. Just one sentence little snippets like "Went bowling with grandma" or "Flew to the alps", that way you still have a record of the dream and memory trigger without spending ages writing the full dream down. You can always write down the full dream later though, and the tag will help you not forget. I do this whenever I wake up in the night, then an hour or so after I have gotten up I look back at the tags and then write up my dreams in full here on DV. That is just my preference though, tags alone should be plenty helpful enough. Good luck!

Thank you guys so much for your replies! I did a WBTB last night, remembered a really long and vivid dream and wrote it down in my dream journal with my own version of the format that Sensei recommended. I think I'm going to start doing as you said, BlairBros. I can write my dreams way faster when I'm on my computer, so I'm only going to write tags in my dream journal from now on.
