So I'm trying to come up with a sleep schedule, and my goal is to make the most out of my time asleep (AKA hightening my chances/getting more chances to get lucid).
Now as far as the REM cycle goes, It's active after about the sixth hour (on avarage), so I'm planning on getting 8, maybe 9 at the most, hours of sleep each night. With that my weekdays are laid out.
But when it comes to the weekends/my days off, I'm entertaining the idea of a nap sometime after waking up. Now here is where I would appriciate some input from someone more knowledgable than myself.
How is this going to affect my REM cycles, and how can I schedule my sleep/my nap to maximize the REM potention within those?
Lets say I sleep for 8 hours one night, and I wake up at 7 or 8 AM, then I go about my bussiness, and then take a 1 hour nap a 2-3 hours later.
Will my REM cycle continue from the end of my regular sleep night, into my nap?
Also, how will this effect my next regular night of sleep's REM?
I want to have a predictable and stable REM cycle throughout my day, I don't want to skew it back or forward and make it not predictable.

Sorry for the rambling, I'm not very good at formulating myself. I hope someone can inform me more on this subject.
Also, general REM discussion thread I guess.
Thanks.
