I'm sure there are many people out there who have a long dream and then it suddenly ends. You wake up for whatever reason without ever finishing the scenario you're in. It's especially annoying when you wake up for no apparent reason, that's what makes me angry. Why won't my brain finish the dream? Is there a way to bring back those lost dreams?
      I sleep to dream.

      That is annoying.
I have on occasions brought back the same dream. as I awake, for whatever *$#@^! reason I try to keep my eyes closed and stay relaxed. I begin to think about the dream and it's contents. (like a precognitive thinking process) Then if I am lucky I will fall back asleep and go on from where my mind left off.
Sometimes the realization that I am back in the same dream has sparked a DILD

That could turn out to be a valid technique. When I wake up at the end of a dream, I'll try to re-enter it and if I can recognize that I'm back in the dream, I'll be lucid. If not, then the dream can keep going as I left off.

This is one of the reasons why you should bother writing them down.
If you read what you previously wrote about the dream, before falling asleep, you can enter the dream as you left it.
Also, something I've found myself, is that I sometimes do not remember a dream while awake, but as soon as I stand there inside the dream I remember it. So if you only write down where you left it, it would be enough, as you can go to that place again and remember the entire thing when you get there.
