Okay. Over the past couple of weeks, I've had *way* more sexually-themed dreams than usual. And, some of these are just... plain odd. Last night, I was seduced by my history lecturer, who in real life, is 30, married, and has a kid. A freaking KID. And a few nights before that, I had a sex dream about somebody else I should definitely NOT be having such dreams about. And, a bit before that, I had an uncharacteristicaly kinky dream, which I'm just not going to go into more detail on.

Now, I've been reading the forums in Dream Interp and a few other sub-forums, and it seems there is a similar sort of "problem" repeatedly cropping up. The basic pattern goes like this:

      Seemingly innocent dream scenario.
      then:
Dream character iof (usually) opposite sex, who is an inappropriate person/thing to have a sex fantasy about.z
      then:
In the dream, the dreamer then proceeds to engage in sexual activity with the wholly inappropriate dream character
      then:
Dreamer wakes up, and exclaims "Oh my freaking god(s)(or-lack-thereof)! Why the hell did I just (insert sex act here) with (insert inappropriate dream character here)! Oh crap, does this mean I'm a pervert?!"

You get the pattern. The same sort of pattern applies to sex ACTS which themselves are not things the dreamer would expect to have dreams about.

So, my question is: What is it that makes us, in our dreams, reach out and "grab" wholly inappropriate dream characters, to engage in sexual activity with? Is this just our unthinking, unconscious leibido grabbing the nearest convenient dream character to satisfy itself with, with totaly disregard for the appropriateness of the dream character? Or is this something more... does this display a sort of implicit attraction of our subconscious towards playing out our fantasies with "forbidden" dream characters?

That's quite strange. Seems like our subconsciousness takes advantage of this dreamy freedom to play with the "forbidden" characters. A good outlet anyway for some suppresed emotions or rather curiosities of "what it would be like with her/him ... ?".
Boredom and daily routine might lead to such night visions, but then why in the waking life we rarely have a desire to play sex with an inappropriate character?
      I'm tired being sorry.

I go through phases, it seems like. Sometimes I'll have a lot of sexual dreams in a short span of time, and other times I don't have any for awhile. I've had a few with inappropriate (and unavailable) people, but I always just shrugged it off as one of those crazy dream-things.

I'm surprised guys don't dream about sex more than they do, seeing as it's pretty much all they think about during the day - or at least it seems that way with some people.

You're probably encouraging these dreams as you dwell on it - saying 'OMG I'm such a pervert for dreaming about humping so and so' makes you think more about it, and in turn more likely to dream about the same type of scenario again.

The forbidden is exciting - especially in your dreams where no one has to know besides you (and if you decide to tell us ). Maybe you're fulfilling your desire for an exciting sex life.

Well, hey, it's all in my DJ. But, sometimes it's not so much about "forbidden" stuff. It's about stuff we're not just the slightest interested in. Somebody else on the forums had a dream about an anthropomorphic giant bunny-man for instance...

I don't think it matters WHO exactly the dream charakter is ... your subconscious brings this person up, because there is something about that person to associate with the rest of the dream, and all together relate to your real life. There might be a certain impression that you have of this person, it might be a thought you think of first when you see this person; or maybe the dream content already shows in more detail to which situation you should relate the meaning of the symbol "odd person".
I've had dreams about having Sex with my mum, which seemed very strange to me at first; but as I looked deeper in some sort of sense of the dream I noticed that it was really not about having Sex, but about faith.
So very rarely the dream charakter is really the dream charakter, you know..
      Religion is curable.

From what I understand of sex dreams they are about two things usually. Either 1 - it's your subconcious admiring a particular aspect of a persons personality. . . "gee betty is really confident I wish I could be more like betty" . . . or 2 - it's a way your unconcious expresses vulnerability "wow. . . betty is so much smarter than me. . . and I don't think she likes me very much. . . she makes me feel inferior" . . . BUT I don't put a lot of stock in dream interpretation.

Last night I had a dream I was a witch brewing an evil potion and that David Boreanaz (Angel from the TV show Buffy) was chained to my floor. . . if that had "deep" psychological meaning then I don't know what it could have been.

I like to think of my dreams more like battleship. . . my brain randomly calls a section up and whatever is in that section gets plopped into my dream. . . so that harry potter and my aunt fran bake me a birthday cake in their underwear while singing R E S P E C T. ( I made that one up. . . it would be interesting though)

Ha! Heh, that made me laugh. I tend to agree. I think that any "meaning" found in dreams, derives not so much from the CONTENT of the dream, so much as the way in which the dream constructed around that ?randomly? chosen content. In other words, the links that our mind makes between the subjects of the dream. So, what I want to know, is why the character of these associations seems to be sexual. For instance, why did my mind make an associative leap of sex, seduction, and sexuality when trying to link up the presence of my lecturer, going to somebody's house, wine, and whatever we were talking about... does that make sense?

There were a few months 2 years ago where I had a sex dream about a male friend almost every night. Each night it was a different male friend and once it was two of them at the same time. /blush. . . . I wasn't remotely attracted to any of them. It made for some interesting conversations with my girl friends who thought it was hilarious. Other than that I never managed to find any real meaning behind any of it.

I think sex is something that we all dream about and is always bubbling below the surface waiting to pouce out, for instance in most lucid dreams the first thing that comes into my head is sex and i will literally jump on the first person i see, or depending on my mood go over and ask them
Our dreams are firsthand creations, rather than residues of waking life. We have the capacity for infinite creativity.

Though I'll never have a lucid sex dream, I have had sex dreams before.
It was wierd, and I can hardly recall them, but I wasn't me in any of them. I had a strange feling of detachment, like I was an observer in the dream, in the bloke (and yes, a girl (WT fluff? WHY was I there? Thank God I woke up just before IT happend )).
I geuss it has to do with what wa bothering you during the day. (maby you think that she is hot, and that a kid adds to her charm )

      It is lust of course.

I'm horny alot of the time, and I often chose the closest dream characters to have sex with, even though it may be a weird selection. They do need a certain level of attractivity, though; I won't fuck someone I find repulsing.

For instance, I have fucked a zombie chick, a horse, a cat and even a male. I have to admit I found the sex with the horse and the zombie was exciting as when doing hot chicks. It may sound weird to some, but I find some horse females to be equally attractive as beatufil human females.

CanDOUR. Grrrr. Candour is the correct English spelling. Can't you americans make your own language instead of ruining everybody else's?!!!

CanDOUR means being really open, frank, honest, in what you say. Like, without covering stuff up to make it more acceptable. Sorta.

Keeper, the British spellings are no more correct per se than the American spellings. That is like telling a Cantonese speaker that he mispronounces everything. British English and American English are different dialects of the same language; one is not more correct than the other.
