This happened to me pretty often earlier when I haven't had any vivid LDs yet. Even though something woke me up (I wasn't dreaming, I was surely awake) I still could return to the same dream I've had. The trick I used was when I woke up I tried not to move, it took like thirty (at most) seconds and I was back in the same dream. Is this common?

Yup the continuation process. I've experienced that as well on several occassions. You can extend your time awake for probably up to 5 minutes and still be able to jump back to the dream you left from. The dream is usually still fresh in the mind in a short time period so your mind is able to recollect on it because you are normally still focused on it in your subconscious.

also, this is a great way to practise a WILD...you wake from a dream, and you decide where you are going to go 'back' to, and what is going to make you realise you are dreaming.

Yea this is the way that most of my LDs happened. Just drift back into the dream, but remember that you are dreaming. Woohoo! I think it's the easiest way of LDing I know.

I've had this happen when I woke up and went into the same dream 3 times, it was really cool.

Nice to see that it is a common thing. I think that the best part (besides LD) is that you can choose to continue (whether it's a good dream) or to awake (bad one).
