I've had this once or twice, and think its rather strange.. I'm sure I am not the only one, but I am interested in finding out about this..

I can remember a dream I had as a child..I was running away in a tunnel from a couple of vicious dogs.. I reached the end of the tunnel and quickly hid around the side of the wall, hoping that the dogs would carry on straight ahead and not see me. I had my back against the wall, and in the dream I started crying.. I didn't get any further, because I was being woken up. Someone had entered my room and noticed that I was crying.

I wasn't aware that this could happen. Crying in a dream and actually physically crying as well, while asleep in bed. Does it have something to do with being close to waking, and so the dream world and reality are close? I am intrigued.

      Thanks for reading.

I don't really know how it works, other than it could be a lapse in your sleep paralysis, but I assume it's the same thing as sleep walking.

I got into lucid dreaming because I would have incredibly awful nightmares. Things nobody should see. I wanted to learn how to dream lucidly so that I could get rid of them. In my dreams I would scream and cry fight and I would wake myself up because I would fall out of my bed from fighting and wake myself up from screaming. I don't think it's that uncommon for this to happen, so I wouldn't let it worry me too much.

I have had dreams of my loved ones who have died and was crying in my dreams and when I woke up, (because of the strong emotions I guess), I was also crying in real life.

Hey there. Someone else had came here before, after they had the exact same type of experience as you. (Can be found Here)

As I said there, the fact that you woke up in tears is not surprising. Our dreams can have a strong impact on us. Its the same reason people wake up sweating and in fear after nightmares in which they are afraid.

When you woke up, wether you had immediate recollection of the dream or not is irrelevant. Both our dreams and emotions reside in our subconscious, and are not physical. They are mental qualities. When you feel sadness, its all in your emotions which you experiance in dreaming and waking life.

Crying in a dream does not necissarily mean crying in real life. You may see yourself in a dream, in tears, but have no idea why. It could just be some random event that was created by the dream, like seeing pink elephants or something. But, this case is different. This dream actually brought forth your emotions. The dream actually caused a feeling of sadness.

I've have extremely sad/emotional dreams in which I was sobbing, and woke myself up because I was crying so hard. But it's always such a relief to come to the realization that whatever i was dreaming about that made me so sad, was only a dream.
