I really didn't know where to ask this exactly. I'm sure I probably could have found it answered elsewhere already but it'd probably take me forever to find and I'm really hoping for a clear, simple response.. is that possible?? Hee. I'm new to learning about all this dreaming stuff.

      On to the question..

The other night I was having a dream or specifically a nightmare. I didn't realize I was dreaming till at one point I was laying on a bed with my boyfriend and thought "Hey, this isn't my room." So I knew I was dreaming and decided I was ready to wake up. I made 4 attempts to wake up. Each time I tryed, I would hear my t.v and my mother in the bathroom talking to my brother but I couldn't FULLY open my eyes and stay awake. They'd open for about 5 seconds, I'd see my room and then they'd shut again and I'd be back in my dream, in this unknown bed with my boyfriend. This happen in all 4 attempts at waking up/opening my eyes. Everytime I tried, they felt super heavy. There was no way I could hold them open. This was all between 7am-7:30, which at 7:30am was when my alarm that's on the table right next to me went off and that's what got me to fully wake. And when I did, my eyes were soooo heavy as if I hadn't slept in days.

This doesn't have to do with my sleep but when I woke up, I did some silly things like pour my dogs food into their water bowl instead and place the gallon of water I used to refill the bowl, inside the closest where I keep their food. LOL.

This isn't the first time I experience this where I try to open my eyes, hear my surroundings yet can't and as soon as they shut again, I'm back in my dream. This also happens to my brother often.

What is it?? Why does it happen?? Like I said even though this wasn't the first time happening, it was probably one of the longest times I've tryed to open my eyes and they refused. I've read a few things here and there but don't understand it completely. I also forgot to mention that I had woken up in the middle of the night, around 4am to get a snack (small glass of milk and a little bag of "little bites" brownies), ate it and fell back asleep 15 minutes later... if that has anything to do with this.

Please please please. Even the simpliest of explanation would ease my mind.

Maybe the moment that your eyes open, try failing your arms and legs or something to get yourself hyped up with a little adrenaline going?

      Just an idea.

      Well, I'm hopeless as I can't move.

I just feel myself trying to wake up, since I realized I was in a dream, attempt to open my eyes, I see my room and hear everything around me for about 5 seconds but can't move.. eyes shut and i'm back in my dream and then still realizing in my dream what happen, I make several other attempts at waking up, opening my eyes but they wont.

      I appreciate your response.

I've asked this in two different forums and no one gives not one freakin reply.
