      Thumbs up

For as long as I can remember my dreams have almost always been in third person. What happens is I just see myself in the dream, but (in a non-lucid way) I still control my body. But say if something was coming up behind me I would see it but not be aware of it. I'm not sure how much sense this makes to you, but... yeah.

Other times, but not often, I'll have dreams that I'm not even in, but I just observe. In these dreams I have no emotion, no felling at all, I'm not even aware, but I'm just there.

What else happens to me at times, but not often (again), is that I'm some one else. I will have a different life different friends, different everything.

So for me the least common type of dream is one where I'm myself, and I see every thing in first person POV.

If anyone else has any of these things in their dreams, I would like to know about it, so please tell.

      EDIT

Sorry laconix I just read your topic, but I would still like to keep this up.

just too add I only lucid dream in third person I don't know why, but it's just something I can't control.

Everyone's different, so there are no steadfast rules about POV when dealing with dreams or lucid dreams. Personally, my LDs are always 1st person, but I do have non-lucid dreams that are 3rd person. I've seen many people on here that dream more in the 3rd person. So I'm not sure if it's anything you can necessarily change (or want to try to change), but you just go with it and make it work for you.

oh and welcome to the forum!

Roughly two thirds of my dreams are in 3rd person. I think it's because I play too many video games, though...

For the second and third types, that's happened to me, as well. Dreams can be strange, I guess.

Yeah, I think it's pretty common too. I am myself in my dreams, but I am not IN me, I don't see from my eyes. My POV is slightly behind and over me so yeah, I kind of could see someone come behind my back.

My POV is first person most of the, but it is very "loose", so to speak. I am not defined to just looking out my eyes, the view point tends to do what it wants. Like, if I see someone important off in the distance, I will "zoom in" on the guy, stuff like that. Or, if someone is sneaking up on me, I will zoom out and see them (but not the back of my head). If that makes any sense.

Vehicle driving/flying/whatever is in third person, with a few random exceptions thrown in every once in a while.

And yeah, I do get the observer dreams every once in a while. I haven't had a third person one in a very long time, though.

I'd say that around 90% of my normal dreams are first-person ones, and the other 10% are more third-person omniscient. In the third-person ones, I'm a sort of bodiless, floating 'ego point' that watches the action. It's rather like being on stage as an observer during a play, but more so-- I understand the 'plots,' but I also get the emotions and thoughts of the DCs or 'actors.'

I read waaay too many novels-- can you tell?

I've never had a third-person-limited dream-- either I'm in my body or I'm not present at all. For some reason, I think that sort of thing would be faintly frightening...

Alot of the time, my dreams are in a third person view. I think about 80 % of them are. One of my recurring dreams is my first Allergic Reaction. I seem to dream this, but through my mothers eyes, which is freaky. Also ianother one of my recurring dreams is in the third person.
