Sleep paralysis is always something that plagued my childhood. I'd get it all the time and I'd honestly freak out. It was some of the scariest moments of my life. Everything about it was scary for me.
The first time it ever happened I was 9 or 10 years old. I was staying at my grandmothers house and it was a full house, the only place for me to sleep was outside in her porch... which was much different from the city in that it was pitch black, so many stars I could see. But I wasn't scared, I had my dog right by my side, an Irish Wolfhound... huge dog.
Anyway, the SP hit me and I was freaking out. I couldn't breathe, I couldn't move, and I was hearing some really scary sounds. It felt as if a huge hand was squeezing me... then all of a sudden it let go, in an instant I was free. I opened my eyes and just gasped for air. I looked out into the woods, everything was illuminated from the full moon(just a coincidence). Well, in the woods, thru the trees I saw a bright light. Then, out in my grandmothers back yard... I saw a shadow beast.
If you are familiar with shadow people then you know what I saw. My interest moved from the light I saw(which later turned out to be the moon) and onto this shadow creature, that stood in the center of my grandmothers backyard, which was about a half acre surrounded by thick woods on one side and a street on the other. IT wasn't human, I don't know what it was. One thing I can tell you is that it was ALL black and I couldn't discern any distinguisable features. The thing bolted into the woods and ascended...
I flipped out, ran into the house, it was 5:00AM and my dog was out on the porch looking at me. I turned on HBO and waited for everyone to wake up. I was really scared.
Anyway, after this even it happened to me many more times... too many to count. Except when I'd get ouf of the sleep paralysis I wouldn't open my eyes, I'd keep them shut tight. Some times I'd lay on my bed for hours until the sun came up, and I would only know the sun was out because the blackness when you close your eyes turns sort of red...
Well yeah, then in 2004 I was reading the paranormal board on a website called Gamefaqs. I was very into cryptozoology, I saw a 150+ post topic on lucid dreams... and well the rest is history. My next experience with SP turned into a dream, not lucid, but a dream. On my chest, instead of the hag, was my father crying, he thought Iwas dead. It was very cool.
Also, because of my chronic SP I was able to WILD quite easily. I do mean easily, I was able to effectivly induce dreams via the WILD method with amazing success rates. It's actually the only way I can lucid dream to be honest.
Well yeah, that's my story, post yours if you have any.
