I was really awful at visualisation until I realized that I was concentrating too hard on the 'visual' part of it. Sight is the hardest sense for my brain to 'fake,' and since most of the exercises I was trying to do were very visually oriented, I got very frustrated.

Take the typical 'visualize an apple' exercise. Many people start off by picturing an apple. I have to start off by imagining an apple's texture, how much space it would occupy, how my fingers would have to bend to hold it. Once I manage to get the touch part down, hearing and sight are far easier for me to visualize.

It's quite possible that you're having trouble simply because you're not visually oriented. Try to play with your other senses more, and you might have more success.

LaBerge's Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming has a few (visually-oriented) visualization exercises in it, and you can find many more simply by plugging 'visualization exercises' into Google.

The solution is simple. All you need to do is stop thinking verbally for a period of time like a hour or two. Basically just silence the voice in your head telling you what to do. Then begin to think of something with your visual imagination like love or fighting something simple. If your totally hopeless then first think of a action like somebody punching and then just try and control the feeling or image. Location is a good place to start if you want to as you know the way home from work or school or town this uses visualization as if you had none you wouldn't fine your way home. Just imagine yourself walking home and control the environment.
Tesla and Poincare also to a lesser degree Feyman used visualization as a way of thinking. So the best thing you can do is not carry delusion that your be able to see things crystal clear the best thing you can do is learn to think visually. First step is to turn of verbal thought, like some savants and some autistic people do. Next you have to learn to do something like Tesla when he put his inventions together and run them in his mind and Poincare would start from the beginning and imagine mathematical problem. Also don't waste your time on puzzles because it is unorginal.

I know a mnemonicist and I asked him does visualization depend on other sense. Well he said no as they are in different parts of your brain. He went on about the method of loci and how it uses our sense of location which is really strong and how this depends on only one sense. Well according to my friend you should avoid the top quote as it is counter productive.

Your getting imagine and visulize mixed up. See touch, hearing, muscle movement(forgot smart name) are all imagination not visualization. See these are not mental images instead their made up off other sense like touch and sound which are not visual hence not visulization.

P.S. if you want to take visualization to the next level I suggest you read up on mnemonics. http://www.buildyourmemory.com/howmemoryworks.php trust me mnemonics does help visulization lots.

The planet Earth exhibits all of these properties and therefore can be considered alive and its own single organism by the scientific definition.
      7. Reproduction: The ability to produce new organisms.
does the planet Earth reproduce, well no unless you count the moon.

Terry's books are ALL good. not 1 bookhe has written is bad. I recommend all of them.

Reading will help your imagination . For me i can imagine anything almost like a movie. I guess im lucky.

when you are relaxed, focus on the dark inside your eyes, if you look close enough(at least with me) you may notice shapes or lines. Use these to form some visualization. Its all up to you, just picture it and let your mind take you there. It can be very helpful for WILDing.
