      Unhappy

I wonder if anyone has had this sort of dream:

For the last couple of nights I've dreamt of killing LOADS of people. Last night I literally did a school shooting, killing perhaps hundreds of people, and even attempted rape.

The night before I was decapitating dozens of people in a newsagent with a breadknife.

Now, anyone who knows me would know I wouldn't dream (heh) of doing anything like that, and in the dreams I'm always terrified of getting caught for my rampant acts of depravity. Any ideas what the hell is going on?

I have had one where I killed loads of people with an axe, machete pistol and through strangulation. It was pretty fun.

I've had a similar dream a few years back - it had a little more setup that I won't bother you with but it more or less had me turned into some kind of avenging angel of death with a rose hilted sword, hacking down a church full of people who were my friends/classmates. One theory suggested to me that might be realevent is that your body is simply trying to get you to move. You're sleeping on yourself in an odd and possibly harmful way and your body is either trying to shock you awake or get you to roll over in your sleep to say, get off your arm so it doesn't go numb in the morning.

...wish my dreams did that for me these days, one too many mornings I wake up feeling like I'm missing an arm from how numb its gotten >.<

I can't ever recall having a genocide dream. Quite the opposite. I tend to feel sorry for or even horrified about people I think I may be harming in my dreams.

Conflict in dreams relates, I believe, to inner conflict.

      Hey there,

Firstly, I wouldn't worry about it too much. You're not turning into an aggressive psychopath who'll go and shoot everyone at your local school

Why are dreams like that there? It's always tricky to say. Personally I believe that the meaning of dreams and the way they appear (their manifest content as Freud would call it), can be quite different. Can, but doesn't have to.

So the options are wide open. It's possible you've been repressing a lot of anger and frustration lately, and its 'finding an outlet' in your dreams. This anger could be towards others, but just the same could be towards yourself.

Additionally, the fact that you feel worried about being 'found out' so to speak might mean the dream is a representation of shame or guild over something you did, are doing, or will do. Something which you feel is a 'bad thing' to do. Which could translate in your dreams as hidious acts of massacre.

It could even be fear inspired. Perhaps you think there's something about you that's bad or mean, and if people found out, they wouldn't like you anymore, or even reject you.

Now I'm not trying to interpret your dream for you, I believe that only you can interpret your own dream. I'm simply trying to make a point... try not to look at the direct content of the dream too much, but rather at its symbolic value. What is it trying to represent? What does this killing mean to you? Why are you afraid you'll be found out in these dreams? What would happen if you do?

      Anyways, hope that helps,

I shot a bunch of folks last night...in mah dream. I do think you get dreams like this when you're feeling uneasy or defensive about how your life is going currently. Or maybe it's just me.

Uneasy and vunerability will make you dream about attacking or defending.

Probably semantics here, but I find that vulnerability comes through in the form of dreams of being wounded/hurt rather then when I do the hurting. When I'm the aggressor I think it means my internal struggles and conflicts (of which we have many, according to Freud).
