Do you think certain dreams express how you'd react in a certain situation?

Do you think certain dreams express how you'd react in a certain situation?

For example, there's this guy I sort of like but I'm not entirely sure.
Last night I had a dream he stepped out of the shower, naked and wet, and I went right up to him and gave him a kiss.
And it wasn't like I was just watching it happen, i remember feeling all excited and lovedrunk thinking: "What the hell! I'll give him a kiss!"

So...do you guys think that sometimes a dream will simulate an experience and thus show you your true thoughts/feelings/bravery, even?

      Hey there,

Yes and no (don't you just hate one of those answers )

I think what a dream does is show you your true feelings, yes, but not your true reactions. Dreams are the domain of the unconscious, which means they are governed by unconscious urges... desires, fears, hopes, expectations. Very often, if the urge is strong, it appears in the dream in a very obvious way. So in that aspect, the dream can tell us a lot about our true feelings and true motivations.

However, our waking reactions are governed by more then just our unconscious urges. Consciousness allows us to moderate, delay and adjust our reactions in a manner that we consider more appropriate. So in a dream you might walk up to a guy and kiss him without any compulsion, which could represent a strong attraction to the person. In waking life however your sense of consciousness would likely try to work with this same attraction to find a more proper venue of communicating that attraction (like asking him out on a date).

      Hence, yes and no

      Hope that helps,

Yeah, that does make a lot of sense.
So dreams are...just our raw emotions then? That makes sense. Cool.
