      Clearing the mind?

With WILD-ing I was told to clear your thoughts, focus on breathing etc. etc. I find this extremely difficult because I have lacking control over my thoughts. (I think you guys know what I mean. ) My problem is with "recent" events, for example, I have been watching a cartoon series which I have enjoyed very much. So every time I have nothing specific to think about, or nothing I am SUPPOSED to think about, the cartoon series will pop into my head, and I will start thinking of the last episode I watched. No matter how hard I try NOT to think of it, it will keep popping back into my head. (I have tried to re-focus on breathing, or the patterns in my eye-lids, ANYTHING else, but it always slips back in.)

So after that extremely long intro, my question is, is there some technique that can help with clearing the mind? Some practice that will give me better control?

      Thanks in advance.

P.S. I am still getting used to these forums, quite confusing. So pardon me if there is a place for this kind of thing.

      Hey there,

I don't think its necessary to clear the mind, you just need to turn your attention away from your physical body and your waking surroundings.

Some people do this by clearing their mind, as you describe, but others use different methods. Some focus on their breathing, and keep their attention firmly locked there. Others try counting (or even counting backwards), and yet others visualise dreamscenes or fantasy scenes in their head.

So for you, I would suggest imagining yourself to be in the cartoon (or just watching it) and turning your full attention there. Ideally, you want 'not think' your body, 'not think' about your waking surroundings, until you forget you're even there

      Hope that helps,

In my experience I found it easy to just imagine a scene and eventually you'll feel SP and you may be able to re-enter the scene you were just imagining.

      Peace, Jamal
