How much do your guys dreams relate to whats happening in real life?

How much do you guys find your dream relate to whats happening and how you feel in real life? I think most to all my dreams do this to an extent. I had yet another dream that hit this right home last night.

Basically, in the dream I was part of a team that were racing a car around various tracks. We had quite a few races and it was straight forward and easy. You go around the track fast and the first one around wins. We usually won. But then one race it got freaky. It started by someone hinting to us that we should make a turn somewhere up ahead. Thinking it was some sort of shortcut or nessasary thing, I agreed and we turned into there. It was a go-kart track and the rest of my team piled out of the car and got into line. I got out too and was like "What are you doing??? We're in a race!" They respond "Yeah, but we need to do this" and just stayed in line then went on driving gokarts around the mini track endlessly.

Before I continue, I'd just mention that the trademark of my dreams is that time is totally free flowing. I can go back to whenever I want and change the way things happen. So, I went back and made it so that we never turned. But things like that kept happening. In the end it felt more like a shopping trip then a race. There was no point trying to even race because even the car seemed against the idea. The result was a mess where I had no idea what I was even supposed to be doing next and the race had totally slipped my mind untill I came upon a scoreboard where it displayed the race results. At the bottem was my team with "Time stil pending".

Naturally I woke up, thought "WTF" and just continued on with my day. Untill of course it just hit home. I think it was that feeling of confusion that triggered my recal but my dream came flashing back and I saw how exact it wa to how I felt.

Over the course of the last few weeks - well, you could even say since school started - I have had much to much to do. It was nice and straight forward during the summer break. I could work on flash projects and all that other stuff that I wanted to do. But now I have school, a job and more things that I want to do then ever. My car stands no chance at all =/

Its the exact same emotions in case anyone is skeptical and because I can't impart the similarities through text. Thats the case with these dreams, once you see the connection its uncanny. If its not uncanny, its probably just a coincedence. If you ever get a connection like this, trust me you'll know.

So, does anyone else find this? Compare the dream you just had to your life right now. Concetrate on the emotion and overall picture portrayed in the dream. I find that to be most similar if nothing else.

Very, very, vveerryyy little. Probably the reason I love my dreams. Nothing like being the passenger in a camper being driven by a family of bears! *Actually lost his lucidity to THIS!*

I read that most dreams are mundane and reality-like. Mine used to be like that while I was in high school, and then I guess when I graduated I felt so liberated that, I don't know, my imagination took off or something.

My dreams early in the night tend to feature the previous day's activities quite often. Later dreams, less so - and more likely to feature people and things from many years ago, like video games and my former stepfather.

No dream goals at the moment...just flying and letting stuff happen is kinda fun, and it's hard to motivate myself to try LDing lately.

Sounds like mom. She dreams the most every-day, boring mundane stuff, and here I am being flown across the cosmos, crashing into the sun, swimming at the bottom of the ocean without breathing apparatuses, letting bears drive me around, et cetera.

A lot, sometimes my dreams really closely mimic RL. If I have a test or something the next day I might dream about that class. If I went to the store IRL I might dream about it later that night

sometimes things happen in my dream that relate to what's happening in real life, but very rarely. and even more rarely does it show the mood I've been in throughout the day. my dreams don' really have to do with what's going on in my life usually. I might have been thinking about one thing all day, and it'll never show up in my dreams. I might have been depressed all day, but in my dream I'm happy. But, some little things might come into my dream. For example, let's say I saw a movie. Maybe a something similar will happen in my dream that happened in a certain scene. And, of course, the characters in my dream are often people I actually know.
      Carl Sagan quotes:
"Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it we go nowhere."
"The universe is not required to be in perfect harmony with human ambition."
"It is far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring."

Yes! I always see references to things going on in my life at that time popping up in my dreams.
Consciousness: that annoying time between naps.

My dreams relate to what happened in the day all the time. If I watch a movie or something in the evening I would dream about it. Also when I play some sports or something my dream is based on that sport.

My most common dream sign is school as well...

I'd say 50%-75% of my dreams are "in" real life with people I know. It's usually classmates either from the past or present. The other 25% are just really random crazy dreams.

My dreams are almost always fictional, or in a fantasy/sci-fi setting. If they're every in a real world setting, it's usually bizarre or doing something, like, say... Sky Diving, talking with Hugh Laurie, etc. Nothing that would be very likely to take place IRL. I think that's mostly because I find real life prozaic and dull.

Most of my dreams are usually just random, they have solutely NOTHING to do with anything I've done the previous day.

But a small number of my dreams do relate to real life. Let me explain:

Say throughout the day I feel a mild sort of anger, like it just isn't my day today. Sometimes, that emotion is reflected in my dream, only multiplied one hundred fold. It can happen with any emotion.

So yeah, I guess some of my dreams relate to real life.

      +1
...Lost my lucidity to a dream of a lobster trying to rape my foot

EDIT: Actually, that did bear some relation to a story I was told in real life. But you REALLY don't want to know the story.
