Question can/do you blink in dreams?

as the title asks. do you blink in dreams. im asking this because it may even be able to be used as a reality test but thats a different topic alltogether.

I do blink in (lucid only) dreams and it's been quite harmless, though there is the odd time where it screws everything up. In my first OBE experience which I class as a lucid dream I closed my eyes hoping to teleport but woke up. Now though nothing happens, but I always feel the need to blink once for some reason. Here's one though: Do you breathe in dreams? I've never noticed this!

from 1st question goes another... 2. blink with what? with eyes? if with eyes, then im not in a dream anymore..

I've never noticed blinking, but I to have tried teleporting in my first lucid dream and ended up waking up

And breathing is similar, you don't notice your breathing without trying to. And in waking life when I think of breathing it goes into manual control, never had that in dreams.

@ roguext I'm unaware if i've ever blinked in a dream, lucid or not, and thus this is what this question spawned off. But dreams can be a reflection of reality, an imitation, and thus blinking could be possible as far as I can see.

I was just thinking how screwy things could get, if u can blink in a LD, then maybe close ur eyes, turn ur head, and open and then see what see...

i would think no... since you blink to wet your eyes as they dry out from the air... In a dream you would have no need to do that... I'm sure you can imitate it if you want but i hardly think that you would just naturally as there would be absolutely no need to... just my opinion

      I don't think so..at least i've never noticed it.

I'll be honest though and say that since blinking is usually an unconcious, necessary action to do in real life, and you don't realize it, it probably won't clue you in in a dream, since it wouldn't be necessary for your mind to generate an effect like that, and even if it did, you'd almost certainly pass it right by.

I know for a fact that I don't blink while dreaming, I can close my eyes, but I don't blink. I clearly remember times when lucid where I would stare at a point for more than a minute (which would be quite uncomfortable while awake) without any discomfort. In fact, I can barely even feel my face in a dream.

It makes sense too, blinking is a subconscious reflex to keep your eyes moist, since they are closed while you sleep, the reflex is not needed.

I can close my eyes, but I've never noticed blinking, or any of the discomforts in the eye that would make me want to blink. I tend to be physically comfortable in dreams, emotions aside.

No dream goals at the moment...just flying and letting stuff happen is kinda fun, and it's hard to motivate myself to try LDing lately.

You wouldn't use no blinking as a reality check because dreams are made of thoughts. The instant that you think about blinking, you'll do it.
