      Dream Division

I had two dreams during the same sleep period this morning (a couple of hours or so). As far as I can remembered the second one followed straight on from the first one, but they were completely different themes and places. For my Dream Journal, should they count as one dream? Or two separate dreams?

      Hi Crimson,

that's two dreams. Everyone goes through a number of sleep cycles per night - each cycle contains a dream. So, it's normal to dream many times at night and have many different dreams recalled.

Mark each as a separate dream.

      Hey there,

Does it feel like two dreams to you? Then it's two dreams.

Does it feel like one dream? Then it's one dream.

Dreams are subjective things. There's no clearly defined ending of it, there's no clearly defined beginning. Hell, there's not even a clearly defined definition of it So you chose. Go with your feeling. It'll get you a lot further.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I wrote it down as 2.

I recall an average of three dreams per REM cycle. One day, after 11 hours of sleep, I got up with 9 dreams on my mind. I thought about writing about all of them, and then wrote one and gave up.

The definition of a dream is different than that of a REM period. If the setting, theme, and characters change, then it's a different dream. If they are somewhat connected, then it is your choice. If I can only recall a small amount of information from each one, then I'll combine them for simplicities sake. If they're all very detailed, I might split them.
