Text on a cereal box stayed the same for me, just now :/. NLD.

Music in my dreams usually consists of it being a specific band but is altered in one way or another. One time I was listening to an opera version of some song, forgot what it was now.

What about typing in dreams, huh? I have trouble with that in NLDs (never tried in LDs)

If you willingly went out of your way to try and read or compose music, I think the reactions would vary depending on your outlook on it. If you had doubts about the reading, the words probably wouldn't make much sense to you. If you had doubts about being able to compose the music, it probably wouldn't sound good.

I have had non-lucid dreams in which I've heard music exactly or nearly like a song. Sometimes when I'm falling asleep, I'll hear these amazing melodies come out of nowhere, genres varying from metal to orchestral.

Think about it this way. Which is easier IRL, thinking up a tune or writing a book? Cuz that wat ur subconcious is doing in a dream.
What if I told you that I am dreaming right now?
That your whole life is a lie?
That the laws of physics as you know them are incorrect?

Furthermore, what would you do if I told you I'm going to wake up as soon as you finish reading my signature?

I could more easily write a book than a tune.

lol. But do you know WHAT the book is going to be about? Plus, if your brain inserts random notes, the chances of it making sense are much greater than if it inserts random words.

Which makes more sense, me saying the random words,"Penguin pencil nickel Friday," or me humming the random notes A F B D?

I'm saying that because I don't know anything about music, except listening to it. That's why it seems so weird to me that I can hear amazingly complex music, even what I think is original music, but can't read or write even very simple text in dreams. Text is always going to seem to be a much more simple concept to me than even a very simple tune. I can't carry a tune, I'm sure if I tried to play a simple tune the notes would be all wrong. But I sit and write original sentences constantly. Why the reverse in dreams? How can I get the musical part IRL, and the text part in dreams?

(I guess I could get struck by lightning or grow a brain tumor):

writing in dream: Ask your DG to teach you dream language

music IRL: Practice playing music in LDs a lot and you get better IRL.

In a waking state, I can pick up my bass guitar and play a riff without thinking about every single note that I'm playing. I know the sound and/or where my fingers have to be to note it, etc. If youre writing something out or reciting something you've read, you have to stop and think about what words to use, sentence structure, and so on.

Another way to think about it is maybe just that our brains rememebr music better than straight words. Take your favorite song's lyrics and your favorite poem. Which can you recite better? Better yet, listen to a song you haven't heard before and read a poem you haven't read before, see which you remember better the next day.
