      Dream Character question

      Ok heres the question:

have you ever met someone in your dreams that isn't a real person that you know, but you just seem to instinctively know that dream character, and his/her name?
The reason that I'm asking this is because this just happened to me a few nights ago and ever since then I just can't stop thinking about her(and I'm a male btw). I have had other many other characters in dreams in the past, both real people I know and characters that my sub-conscious created, but none of the other characters have had even close to as much of an impact on me as this character did.

I don't remember the entire dream because it occurred when a bunch of my friends and I stayed over at a friends house, but I do remember that I was more deeply in love with this character than anyone I have ever know (both in real life and in dreams) and the last remaining fragment of the dream that I remember is laying with her in my arms, and her name which I know without a doubt, is ailiea/aliea (I don't know how it was spelled, only what it sounded like). The most interesting thing is I have never known anyone by this name, and have actually (to my recollection) never heard or seen this name ever.

So, to rephrase my question, has this ever happened to anyone else before? and/or any explanations? My closest guess is that this is my dream guide, so I'm asking everyone to see if you guys have any ideas.

Yes, I know the situation well. And yes, my DCs also have told me their names and they too are female (never happens with male DCs). If they're leaving that impression on you then they are projections of your "idealised female" perhaps with some feared parts too depening on how in touch you are with your feminine side.

"She" is familiar to you because she is part of you. You may get a sense of "her" in rl but in my experience "she" visits me in dreams mainly. I used to think that I had a number of female DCs but I've come to realise that they're the same projection - always a stranger and always with the same characteristics (strong willed, young, independent, simple living...) whether they're age 4 or age 24 (which is still quite a bit younger than me!).

According to Jung, the state of this person in our dreams (he calls her the "anima", females similarly have an "animus") tells us the state of our inner female side. The more we get to know and integrate our inner female, the less we expect rl females to fill that role. Or so his theory goes.

If you're not interested in the theory then I suggest you just enjoy "her" like she's a dream friend or lover. She's you/yours after all.

      Oh yes

This happens to me quite often. Wether or not I am me in the dream, I come set with memories that a clear to me in the dream, and involve people and places that aren't in my real life.

Once, I had a dream where human life was nearly erradicated, and what was left was kept as a sort of farm.
Something like 10000 years passed then, and although obviously I didn't experience it, I somehow knew what had been going on in that missed time.
Like I'd read a future history, it was just THERE in my mind.

That happened to me once, but it wasn't very interesting, because the character was mean.
I will try very hard not to say anything stupid. But be warned that this does not always work!

I lived the exact same thing as you did fffxc2. Several months ago, I had a dream in which I completely fell in love with an unknown girl, and I was so affected by the dream that when I woke up, the only thing I wanted to do was going back to sleep and meeting her again, to try and make some kind of link between her world (the dream realm) and mine, so that when I wake up again, I can find her.

You will find more details in my dream journal, it's the first post. I also somehow dreamt about her (or so I thought) a few nights ago, second page of my dream journal.

The only thing I can tell you is that if you are so desperate to find her again, lucid dreaming will be really useful.

Flying Mandarine, the same happened to me about a month ot two ago also. Its amazing how your brain can seemingly create personalities that are only accessible (to my knowlege) in dreams.

      Lol? Wrong topic perhaps?

Anyways... there's been a few instances of this that I can recall. I think that, like alot of things, your sub-conscious will inject emotion into your dreams as well. I mean, how many times have you just gotten really excited, or NOT been scared in a frightening situation? I think that the sub-conscious provided you with the name, or your sub-conscious just created the name you would have expected her to have, and then formed her.

Why, I have no clue. But all I can say, is the dream world is a fascinating place.
You do this every fucking time.
      No sweat.
      No tears.
      No guilt.
You do this every fucking time.

Thanks for all the feedback, its helping encouraging me to try to find her again (I was already trying before I posted this). I have been pushing to LD as much as possible this week and last night I managed to MILD, but when I went to see her in my dream I messed up and lost lucidity. But, It is still less than a week since the initial dream, so I would say I'm not doing too bad.

For some reason I can just instinctively fly in my LD's without having to worry about losing lucidity, but as soon as I try to make something appear "Bam!" I tend to lose most of my lucidity. But, it doesn't matter, because one of these times I will see her again, and then it won't matter what I went through to get to that point.

It's actually never happened to me. None of my dream characters have told me their names, unless they were real people.

Hmm, I guess I wasn't descriptive enough initially so I should clarify this point,

She did not tell me her name, I just knew it.

It was a really weird feeling knowing her name, because I was absolutely sure of it. Imagine it this way, it is not the feeling of a name that you get when you look at a stranger and just kinda "guess" what you think their name is. It feels more like someone you have always known like your family, or a friend that you have known all your life. The best way that I can describe the sensation is that I have always known her, its just that this was my first time meeting her.

It is interesting looking back on it now, because not only was I deeply in love with her but I just felt that everything was perfect, and I could find security and piece of mind in her.

I hope that those who have never had something like this happen to them get some idea of what this is like and are lucky enough to have this happen to them, because it is not really something that can be easily expressed in words, but it just feels so perfect that its beyond words. I'm sure that those who have had this happen to them will understand what I'm trying to say and I wish them luck finding it again.
