I had a dream in German once before, but it wasn't at all realistic, since I don't have large enough of a vocabulary to understand much spoken German (yet I understood it perfectly in the dream).

My hypothesis would be that the more your situations in life dictate the use of one language or another, the more it creeps into your dreams. This would probably be why some people might dream about speaking a foreign language when they're first learning one.

By that token, one would also expect that you would dream in Spanish more often if you were currently residing in, say, Spain or Mexico.

I sometimes think in German but I've never dreamed about it.

I almost always have my dreams in English though my mother tongue is Croatian. And recently I've been listening to DCs talking in Japanese in my dreams, though I haven't spoken it myself in it. I think my mind chooses the language that is the most beautiful sounding to me, and I would say it's Japanese now .

I only tend to think in English when I've surfed the internet too much or read too many ebooks. Otherwise it's all Dutch for me! But I never dream in English. To be honest, I don't talk that much in dreams, not even in lucid ones. It is usually all about the action!!
