      Immediately initiated dreams

Sometimes I get things kind of like dreams right when I fall asleep or am about to fall asleep, and I think you probably get them too. When I'm trying to fall asleep at night I sometimes think about doing something (like tactile imagery) and then it becomes kind of like a dream, but a strong enough impulse to move will wake me up and actually make me move. For instance, a few nights ago I thought about playing frisbee as I was falling asleep. After maybe a minute or so, I imagined the frisbee coming at me, a little over my head. I tried to throw my right hand up quickly to catch it, and ended up waking up (assuming I was asleep) and punching the wall by my bed. Another instance: I was on a slanted surface and slipped, subsequently waking up and bracing myself for a fall. You may have had a dream in which you were falling and you woke up and sat straight up in your bed.

What do you think this state is? Is it a dream in which you're not in full SP? If so, how do you begin dreaming immediately once you fall asleep. Or is it merely imagination that you become so engrossed in that you think it's real? Or maybe some type of state in-between sleep and wakefulness in which you're dreaming but can still move?

Yeah I sometimes move too causing me too wake up, I usually try to avoid something like getting hit or falling on the ground, which causes me to wake up.

descrived as in involuntary twitch/movement of a muscle or group of muscles
Ive had this before and its very common
one time i saw an owl and it hooted really loud and came up right next to my face
but it felt like i was almost dreaming
nobody really knows why it happens though so i cant help you much there

It's annoying while trying to DEILD, I sometimes also wake up and I don't have feeling in my arm because I've been laying on it, annoying feeling and I have to move my arm to let the blood flow again. So thats also keeping me from a DEILD

Ah, yes, that would explain the twitching.

I don't get it when falling asleep much, though occasionally if I'm sleepy I do see things quite vividly, though it happens more in the morning when I wake up, I think the state would be valuable to you for WILD, or if your prone to have it in sleepy states you might be like me and be very good at a kind of tactile DEILD.

Yes, this is technically hypnagogic imagery, so you're not yet in full-fledged sleep paralsis when it occurs. It varies from person to person, but it can be very much like a dream, as you've noticed.

Yes, this has happened to me. I remember once I had one where I thought I was at the computer and my mom was coming up behind me so I jerked my head around to look at her and then I remembered that I was trying to go to sleep.
