Exclamation I hanen't been able to recall dreams...

I dream everynight...But when I wake up I can not remember what I dreamed about for the life of me.
I can only remember peices of the dreams.
My recall has been bad for a week and a half now.

Alot of people have told me the samethings..lie in bed after I wake up wait for it to come to me.
      I tried but No luck.

I can't even remember enough to write in my dreamjournal.

All I remember from one of my dreams is..
I was getting married,There were two girls,One was black with a white bridesmaid dress and long hair, and the other was a white girl with blonde hair that would change to brown everytime I looked at her wearing the same dress as the black girl, I didn't recnize them but they were m friends, I was trying on a dress and I couldn't find on and it was my wedding day...

Thats all I remember but I know there was more.

Im not sure if you smoke,(your avatar and what not would lead me to believe you do), but I smoke occasionally and if I smoke shortly(hour or so before bed) my recall sucks. I wake up with a dull feeling. If thats not the case, I would try setting your alarm clock for about 2 hours before you normally wake up. Set it as quiet as possible so it doesnt jerk you awake. Then see if you remember a dream. If not, reset your alarm and you can go back to sleep thinking about it and have a good chance of having a dream right before you get up. This has worked very well for me, since Im pretty new to writing dreams down. Good luck.

I smoke weed and cigarettes. Cigarettes I think might be distracting me from even dreaming.

Try dream control technique called "Sleep Programming".

It will help you pinpoint what you want to dream about, so when you wake up,
it will help your recall, because you asked for the dream.

It works when you "make a wish" (speak your desire) to know something.

Try this simple exercise and see how it affects your recall.

(In the following exercise, you will ask to get a lesson in physics -
that is you will get a dream tonight where you will learn some physics).

Please say the following out loud:

"I WISH TO KNOW THE TRUTH: WHAT IS GRAVITY?"

Then go to sleep and you dram tonight will be about gravity.
Please write down the question and the answer.
Post up what answer you get.

When you sleep program every night, your recall should improve.

      Good Luck.

      Thanks,Sound interesting.

But does it always have to be gravity...Does it work with anything else?

No. It is just an example. I used "gravity" because
your dream will be about gravity.

You can make a wish to know about pineapples and
your dream tonight will be about pineapples.

Look at this; If you say:

"I WISH TO KNOW THE TRUTH: WHAT IS A PINEAPPLE?"

You will dream about pineapples tonight.

      etc.

You're missing the point. The technique relies on the fact that the object is specific and something you can visualize.

      Thank you..
My recall is getting better, but the dreams are not clear as they were a couple of days ago.
I am really hoping this works.

i am new to this and know nothing about dreaming, but i've heard that just writing in a dream journal creates more dream recall, so maybe if you just write down the bits of your dreams you might have better dream recall.

I agree with "im new please help". Even if your recall is really bad you should write down whatever you remember in your dream journal. Because you don't want to slip out of the habit of keeping a dream journal because you're currently having lousy recall. Usually while writing stuff down, it triggers my memory into telling me what happens next, and so on.

Just be persistent, you're recall will get better as long as you don't give up on writing in your dream journal.

A good excercise for you to do is try to remember what happened to you in x hours/minutes and try to recall real life stuff. Since you will be dreaming , and not realize that you are, you will recall it after you wake up. Am I making sense?

It doesn't matter if you don't post it, as long as you haven't given up on writing things down. One other thing you could try is compiling a list of keywords associated with your dreams and read over that list in the morning and see if any of the words trigger memories of a dream.

Like say if have a lot of dreams about zombies, food poisoning, hair dryers and not being able to move properly. I'd write down things like.

      Zombies
      Food
      Poisoning
      Hair
      Hair dryers
      Can't move
      Slow Running
      Slow Fighting
      Sleep paralysis

(among as many common themes in your dreams as you can think of)

Then you might read that list and the word "Running" will trigger a memory of how you were running away from something in your last dream, and then you might remember more of the dream from there.

It might not work, but sometimes memories just need something to trigger them; like I'll remember a dream about a video game I was playing half-way through the day because someone said the word "soldier".

Hmm, have you tried WBTB? Maybe your REM cycle is starting to end at a different time or something.
I will try very hard not to say anything stupid. But be warned that this does not always work!
