      Visualization vs. Daydreaming

Alright, quick and easy... poll to determine any sort of link between daydreaming and visualization ability. Don't cheat! It only skews the data and you have nothing to prove =P The levels are defined as:

      -------------------

      High visualization:
Get a 6 in this test and feel confident about your ability to visualize.

      Medium visualization:
Get a 4-5 in that test (you feel you have some ability)

      Low visualization:
Get 3 or lower on that test. (You feel that you don't have good visualization ability.

      ----------------

      Daydream often:
If you sit around bored for just about half an hour you'll have been daydreaming

      Daydream sometimes:
Daydream only when REALLY bored or when the situation is perfect. (perhaps you nod off sometimes in math)

      Daydream almost never:
You aren't really much of a daydreamer

      ---------------

      Past anything doesn't count!

High visualization and I daydream very often. I daydream too much I think it is starting to effect my life.... I'll go into that more another time in another thread.

Medium visualization, daydream sometimes. I tend to think in structured, pre-organized subjects when I try to daydream, though when I'm just thinking, I tend to jump around like a daydream. It's not that I don;t try to daydream, I;m just not good at daydreaming on cue.

So, what's this supposed to prove, or are you planning on telling us later?

I have 2 possible links between the two (if any) and I'm just collecting data to see if there is any meat to the subject. I need a good number of people to participate first tho =O

He's trying to discover if daydreaming helps improve visualization ability. Unfortunately, these tests never work because people think too much about the "expected" answer and that skews the results.

I have high visualization and I daydream sometimes.

I have to qualify that answer with the fact that I don't daydream often at this stage in my life.

As a child and teen, I daydreamed quite a bit, especially while washing the dishes.

You should clarify your definition of daydreaming.

Ah, true... should have thought of that >.<

I mean, I even made a thread before that asked people what they thought a daydream was and got a wide spectrum of replies....

No wonder nobody replied as "daydream never" >.<

Well I fantasize continuously throughout the day, so I guess I daydream a lot, and my visualization, is a supposedly a 6, the triangle looks solid and red (but I don't actually see it in my field of vision, instead it exists in a sort of far off place in my mind) its better with eyes open.

Though I feel like the visualization test isn't that accurate because visualization for me is like imagination, the image seems ok, but as it gets worse it doesn't like fade, it actually just feels further and further away in a kind of hard to explain way, and it never looses its color really, just kind of feels so far away I can hardly sense it.

High visualizations and daydream frequently. I fantasize a lot. Often times in the car. Sometimes I'll snap out of a day dream and I it takes me a while to figure out where I am or how I got there! lol I suppose I drive on auto pilot while I am lost in a fantasy. Just a note, often times my fantasies aren't even pleasant. Sometimes I make myself cry with what I visualize. Guess it stems from all the nightmares.

I can visualize with my eyes open or closed.

I daydream...a lot...but I have no idea what the literal consensus is on the definition of "visualization". Am I supposed to actually see a red triangle with my eyes closed? Because if so, I think my visualization's about a 1...

High visualization, I can see things with my mind's eye whether I close my eyes or not.
As for daydreaming, I do it a lot although I try not to, just because I don't get much done if I do.
