Would you elaborate a bit more, perhaps providing a more detailed example?
My dreams are also quite random, to a degree. I'm always moving from one place to another, and the "plot" rarely stays the same for any great length of time. Everything does, to a degree, move together to make up the story, but the scene changes happen in such a way that it seems like there's no sense behind it. For example, I could be on a bridge over a river, then I'm by the river picking flowers, then I'm taking the flowers to a friend, then on my way I'm attacked and I run behind a building, then I no longer have the flowers but encounter a tiger, then the tiger reminds me of a dream I had and there's an elevator and people get off, and.... etc.
It's fun, sometimes to write down what you're mind is thinking. I don't remember what it's called, but you just sit down and write down whatever's on your mind and as your thoughts change you write them down, but don't try to think of anything in specific. Just let your mind wander and see where it goes and how things connect or don't. It's interesting, sometimes.
