      Recall is failing

Lately, I haven't been able to remember my dreams well, sometimes even forgetting that they were dreams,. Most mornings recently that I wake up, I'm either, "Oh, that was a nice dream. I wonder what happened?" or "Oh, huh, why am I here? I should be... um... oh, nevermind." This happens no matter how I wake up, either without an alarm, with the Orange Alarm application (working pretty well, btw), or being told to wake up. It turns out that starting this week, my mornigns are going to be free, so could anyone suggest ways to bring my recall skills back to what they were?

PS: No mnemonics, please. Tried and failed.

I know this is going to sound lame, but if you simply make an honest effort to remember them you should be okay.

I had a big problem not too long ago with recall myself, out of nowhere. What eventually got me through it was just having it on my mind all day; throughout your day, just make an effort to remind yourself whenever the smallest thought regarding it comes to mind. Stop yourself for a moment and tell yourself "okay, I need to remember my dreams" and don't just say it, know it. Take a moment to look around you, stop whatever song might be going on in your head, and instead just listen to the sounds that are around you (even if it's just empty room noise, realize that there is always sound and sight everywhere you are).

This constant, almost Zen-like awareness and reminding will help to form that habit of recall.

Cool, thanks. I'll have to see if that helps any if I start having recall problems again. (it may have, considering I was worrying about losing recall the last couple of days)

I know this is an obvious question, but have you read the tutorials on dream recall?
In particular, are you keeping a dream journal?
Make sure you don't just jump out of bed when waking - move as little as possible to turn off whatever alarm you have (natural wakeup is better)
Lie there for a few minutes and think about what might have caused that feeling you have.. what might have happened to make you feel that way
Once you get anything at all, start exploring from there... 'how did that happen, how did I get there, what happened after that' etc
Then try figure out the sequence as best as possible

Once you reckon you have everything as good as it's going to get in your mind, then sit up and jot down what you remember in bullet form, quickly
After it's all down (sometimes you're suprised at how much you have to jot down) then elaborate on it, filling in details

Yes to both questions, ad I do try to limit moving around before I can get a dream written down. My problem then was not being able to remember anything beyond having had a dream, or forgetting what happened before realizing it was a dream and I had woken up.
And yeah, that's pretty much what I do, I justy wondered f anyoine had helpful suggestionsbeyond the recall tutorials.
