      Night Terror overaged

Usually, or so I know, children have theses dreams called night terrors. What usually happens is the child wakes up in a complete terror state, confused and not totally aware. If you would ask that child what his dream was, he wouldn't be able to answer, for he wouldn't remember. This phenomena is quite normal and happens to a good percentage of the population.

What is unusual, is for adults to have those kind of dreams, in fact I never even heard of it. It happened to me. I woke up in the middle of the night, im not sure if i did or not scream. In complete terror, i got up, half naked (i was dressed up when I went to sleep) walking very quickly in the apartment. I snapped out of it after 2 or 3 minutes, in the bathroom, still very afraid of apparently nothing. The dream I could remember was extremely vague, and can only be resumed by the reversal of something in my body. No clear vision, image, just the concept of having something in the body reversed. Again, nothing clear as to what was reversed. Went back to bed, still very afraid. Took me a long time to get back to sleep.

Anyone else ever heard of night terrors outside of children?
There is nothing like a dream to create the future.

Yes I did a report on night terrors actually. While you are right night terrors is something that is most commonly associated with children. Adults may also have night terrors.

      Hope that answers your question.

i always thought that it didn't matter what age you where you could have night terrors, but children are less likely to remember their dreams (naturally) and get scared easier.

Adults can definately have Night Terrors. The ones I experienced happened no longer than about 5 years ago (im now 34). The ones I had were very odd, and would like to hear about other peoples experiences if possible to see how they compare with my own.

Annnnnyway, ive actually had a few experiences wth night terrors, the first one being the most terrifying. I awoke screaming and felt an intense need to run. I was not parylised in any way as I jumped out of bed, ran into the bathroom and locked the door (great in a crisis huh? ). I do however remember in the dream-stage that a shadowy figure was trying to get me, it was at that point that I awoke and I dont mind telling that it was the single more terrifying thing I have ever experienced, it was a case of a desperate need to escape from this thing - total irrational fear. The appartment felt very odd after the experience and neither my wife or myself could sleep, as I recall, we went for a drive in the car. It affected my sleep for a while after that and in total had two more experiences (perhaps even more odd, but I will stop there for now)
