Question Can coffee reduce vividness of a dream?

And also can it cause you to have a harder time to recall your dreams in the morning?

Caffeinated or decaf? Caffeine is a stimulant. It really depends on how much you drink, and when. A bit of caffeinated coffee about a half hour before bed can theoretically increase dream vividness, which in and of itself may spark better recall. Other than that, the only way it should affect you is to keep you awake, perhaps cause trouble sleeping deeply (not sure on this).

It takes about 45 minutes for caffeine to take effect, a bit less or more depending on the person. If you are asleep by the time it takes effect, it can (again, theoretically, though it has done this for me in the past during WBTB [Wake Back To Bed]) stimulate your brain enough to increase vividness.

hmm, without any citation, id be inclined to believe the opposite of you. Id say ingesting cafeine would cause you to reduce the amount of time in REM sleep. Thats my theory anyway. Its seems to be in line wih my experience on the matter.
