      Apocalyptic Dreams

Almost 99% of the time that I go to bed feeling almost depressed about a girl. I have an apocalyptic dream. For instance. Last night i had a dream about this red mist called the red death. It was what looked like fog or mist, but it was blood red, and it killed people the instant it entered their lungs. Even gas masks didn't work. The night before that dream, there was a comet the size of our moon that was going to hit in three days and it would destroy everything. This was an amazingly depressing dream. I just don't understand why I would have these types of dreams instead of ones where I could spend time with the one I thinking about. I would like some input, does this happen to you guys?

When I have a fixation on a person and I go to sleep depressed, I have dreams about death. Usually they're terrifying, but I've never dreamed of red mist. At least, not that I can recall. When I'm angry or depressed (to the point of tears) I go, take a nap, and usually wake up anywhere from an hour to five hours... sweaty but unaware of what I dreamt.

I'm not sure if this helps you at all, but that's my experiences

This isn't strictly on topic, but I've noticed that I have nightmares whenever I sleep without taking my contacts out...

I've had a lot of apocalyptic dreams too. But I haven't noticed a pattern with what can cause them. But there are recurring elements, one is that my dad dies in them or have something to do with his funeral.
One dream I had was set in some shady hotel, that I had never visited, in the middle of the desert and there was a giant blimp/bomb falling from the sky with the words the end is coming written on the side. I don't remember much after that, but there is a scarier part to it.
I had this dream as a child and it scared me so much that it has stuck with me for years. Then one day my family and I made a road trip, and we stopped at hotel!!!!! I've forgotten how to get there or what the name of the hotel is, but I know that it is in Central Arizona in a valley with mountains northwest of it.

I tend to have apocalyptic type dreams most frequently before a trip. I go to Hawaii every year in January since 1999 (missed one year) and I THOROUGHLY enjoy the trips but leaving home stresses me out severely and triggers the dreams. They used to strike 3 months before leaving. Last year my life was absolute hell and it will be continuing for awhile so I'm REALLY looking forward to escaping for 10 days and the bad dreams didn't strike until this past week amazingly enough.
I don't know why I have such dreams either. It's VERY annoying! I've seen a counselor and have been on meds for severe anxiety for at least 5 years now. There's NO logical reason for the anxiety and even though I have pleasant experiences, the anxiety continues.
I gauge my mental state by my dreams and have come to trust them... but even I don't always understand them lol.

I had a dream that I was graduating. ( Class of "2012" ) and when I would get my diploma there was a HUGE earthquake that split up the earth and swallowed people. Scary dream.
