Autosuggestion is when you suggest something to yourself with the idea of it coming to pass. Here are some examples:

At first when I woke up I couldn't remember a thing, but then all of a sudden it came running back to me. I use it in its most basic form to improve my recall and get lucid pretty consistently. I just tell myself, as I'm falling asleep, "I will wake after every dream and write it down in my DJ." Then, when I wake up in the middle of the night, I tell myself before falling back to sleep, "The next thing I see will be a dream."
