      Rather unique recall problem

So I started a DJ at the very beginning of 2009. I was having steady increases in recall until Christmas break ended. When school started again, I virtually got knocked back to the kind of recall I was having before I ever learned about lucid dreaming. Which is to say, ZERO.

I've tried to keep the DJ, but when you don't remember your dreams at all, it's a little bit harder...

      Any advice?

Getting up early and stress are not helpful for dream recall and lucid dreaming.
So best thing you can do is getting to bed half an hour earlier and
not getting out of the bed immediately after waking up.
As soon as you open your eyes do not move but try to think about
what you have dreamed, that will also improve.
If you do remember keep that thoughts while you brush your teeth/ breakfast...
Else you're gonna forget about it later.

Before I quit my job that involved inhumanely rousing myself at 6 AM, I had the same problem. A good way to combat this injustice is to try wilding every morning.

So, let's assume that you must be up by 7AM.

Make yourself fall asleep by 10:30

      Set an alarm for 5-5:30

Stay awake for 20 minutes or so

Go back to sleep, wake up at the usual time (Approximately 7ish)

Whenever I do this I have much better dream recall, not to mention it usually has the lovely side-effect of lucid dreaming, as I usually enter the REM state still conscious.

      Hope this helps a little.

      Thanks a ton - that's a good idea.

I keep a notebook and pen by my bed so when I wake up in the middle of the night (I often wake up having the distinct impression that I just finished a dream, but can never remember it) I can jot down key points and then flesh out the narritive later in the day on my computer.

I'll try the WILD in the morning thing, and I guess it's probably good if I'm going to bed a little earlier than about 12:00 if I'm planning on getting up and moving at 6:00.
