Dream Journal Software - What Do You Think?

Hey, I'm a new member here, but I've always been fascinated by dreams and lucid dreaming in particular. I started my first dream journal at an early age, and I love looking back on dreams from years past, bringing up long-forgotten memories of fantastic places I've never actually been.

Though I think there is something special about penning down dreams in an actual leather-bound journal, it can be a bit inconvenient finding specific dreams. I always get a bit frustrated when I misplace a recorded dream and can't find it again. I also get a bit tense whenever I dwell on the sometimes intimate details contained in my dream journals, there for just anyone to read.

Back when I was learning to program a couple of years ago, these slight annoyances came to the forefront of my mind and took up permanent residence. I decided that I would try to create a dream journal and stuff it full of all the useful features I could think of. There is nothing suitable for download that's even remotely acceptable (to my knowledge), and I'm a bit insecure posting my private dreams up on the web with a dream journal site.

I have decided to take on this project now, and I'm trying to see if there's even any need or desire for a full-featured e-dream-journal before I get underway.

A short list of possible features:

      1. Password protected program that encrypts all dreams when logging off.

      2. Export dreams in a variety of formats, encrypted or not.

      3. Ability to tag dreams based on date/time, level of lucidity, level of vividness, reoccurring dream characters and locations, emotional content, etc.

      4. Ability to profile reoccurring dream characters or locations, any reference to that character or location in dreams will be highlighted in some way, information shown on rollover and expansive information shown on click.

      5. Ability to search all dreams for keywords, dream characters, locations, emotional content, lucidity, clarity, sleep time, date, etc.

      6. All of this will be done from a slick, stylish, dream-themed, skinnable interface. I figured I'd hire a professional designer.

Do you want dream journal software like this?
How much would you be willing to pay for it?
What features would you like to see?
What would you NOT like to see?

If you have any suggestions, comments, or questions, feel free to leave a reply or email me.

Oh really? I didn't know that... A preliminary search of Google didn't reveal many e-dream journals made after the early 90's, at least ones that ran outside of a browser?

I'd really appreciate it if you could point me to some of these e-dream journals. There's really no point in creating one if there are already several good ones in existence.

Heh. I have no links, sorry. I know most people use Microsoft Word instead of a specifically designed program, and title and date it how they like. I just use the good old pen and paper.

I would suggest you make this anyway. So what if there are some already? Doesn't mean yours can't be great. I'm sure many members would appreciate it.
      Bollocks.
