      Cant Run

Made a topic a few days ago about something.. didn't seem to catch much attention. But this is something that's been bugging me for about 4 years.

I had a dream a few nights ago, in the dream I was after someone, chasing them, I think it was a friend.. nothing serious. But I couldn't run at the speed I wanted to.

As I said this has been going on for years in my dreams. The best way I can describe it is it's like I'm running into about a 50 mile an hr wind gust. Try so hard to run faster, but I cant. Get to the point to where I'm jumping, rolling, crawling. And finally I give up. And just walk fast or skip.

It's got to the point to where this happens so much while I'm having a dream and for whatever reason I need to run in the dream.. I literally think to myself in the dream "..oh yea, i cant run in dreams" ..and then I get mad/upset with myself and stop pursuing what I'm suppose to in the dream.

      But yea, can't run..

wow weird! never heard of it sorry though i did have a dream once where i was trying to warn my brother that he was going to get attacked from behind and my voice wouldnt work like i was trying to scream my brothers name but it only came out as a whisper an i was so frustrated because no matter how hard i tried to scream loud it still came out as a whisper. is it something like this?

Yepp, pretty much exactly what I'm talking about. Come to think of it I've had a dream or two just like that yet mine was so bad I couldn't talk at all.

      Very stressing.

I have a great answer to your ?.

You have to think that you can do it in your dream, otherwise, most likely, you won't. This sort of thing has happened to me. I wanted to... do something while I was running, because I was in the middle of running while I was L. I didn't do what I wanted because I thought it was impossible.

Now I try my best to think I can do it. Usually it's easiest for me to change my own actions. I can rarely get people I want to show up. That's hard. But getting yourself to do what you want is much easier. Try it on your next LD.

That makes me believe that my dreams are a huge impact on how I feel about myself in 'real life'. ..e.g.: Can't do this, or that..

Maybe the dream shows a lack of belief in myself. On top of that I've realized I've been having a lot more nightmares lately.

      Thanks for the comments.

      I'm SO sorry
Are those nightmares that you're talking about the classic kind (someone shooting you, stalker, monster, etc.) or do they feature real things in your life?

I agree with ldsavvy. What we can do in dreamss is all about what we think we can do

Monsterish.. the last nightmare. Had about 3 dreams that night so it was hard to remember some of the details.

But the last nightmare I had can best be described as something out of Resident Evil. I was in some building, was almost like a school/bedroom. And somehow me and someone else were infected with a virus. My skin started melting and all this black waste stuff was pouring out of my body and my skin was..washing away.

And I remember the guy that knew about the virus, was looking at some screen and showing how my blood was bonding with the virus and firing "blue cells". I then began spitting up blueish liquid while the other guy was dying, I was mutating.

Then the FBI was knocking on the door and I climbed out the window and ran away, dream changed instantly.

Ever have a dream to where your spitting or doing something with your mouth.. and then you instantly wake up feeling spit run down your chin, or you literally spit on your pillow. haha ..well yea, while I dreaming I could feel my mouth moving trying to spit while I was spitting up the blue stuff in the dream.

Actually you know this could be a blessing for you if youre into LD...
so basically its like youve unintentionally found your reality check and you now know alot of the times when you are or arnt dreaming, ive had a few of these dreams but everyone has been a nightmare and i havent been able to click thats its been a dream.
Now you know that youre dreaming only thing i can suggest is learning to control it.

The best way i use my LD is while in a LD i close my eyes and repeat, that its my dream and i do what i want in it, also repeat what it is that you actually want to do so maybe tell yourself that youre in control and repeat i can run fast or even experiment about telling yourself that you can run the speed of light ect.
All ive got really so good luck

Funny, I just made a reply about that on someone else post. The whole falling asleep and telling your self "its just a dream".. and waiting for surprises.

Yet, its very rare that I can control what I do in my dreams, yet my thoughts alone are very real to me in the dream. Like coming across a situation or choice in a dream, I would literally do what I would in real life and be upset with my self in the dream.

Like not saying hello to some nice looking girl. Good chance I would be to nervous in real life, yet I'm the same way in my dream. And it pisses me off. lol

I just sometimes almost feel like I'm inside of a video game and someone else is controlling me. Kind of like the Freddy Kruger movie, If you remember what I'm talking about. It's still me, my thoughts, yet out of my control.

So you acknowledge that you are dreaming but still cant control the course of the dream?
In a lucid dream your still remarkably wakeful..although your asleep, which would explain the decisions and outcomes of challenges/situations in your dreams that you react to asif you were awake.
The example you gave about approaching a nice looking girl mite be the point of you having these types of dreams. Dreams can spur from real-life experiences and thoughts. Maybe this is you subconciously in pursuit of gaining more confidence in these types of situations and controlling these dreams mite benefit you while your awake.
      Just a thought

I had a couple of dreams where something is poisonous before, but not really that bad or gorey. One was where I was in a valley w/ houses and other people. We were all bigger than the houses. All of a sudden this deadly gas starts to come toward us, from the left. Some people fled, but I decided not to. I knew that I'd have to face it eventually. When it came, it smelled really good.

Why would I need the confidence for something like this?

I get that too, it's an immediate dream sign for me. I become lucid and don't need to run anymore

Have you always found that an easy sign or did it take you a while to control it?

I never really have a "snap" of realization that I'm dreaming.. it's more like I;m sitting on my own shoulders in my dream watching myself. And as the dream goes on it starts to catch me that it is a dream and its kinda like me sitting back and watching a movie of myself.

I have like.. no self control what so ever. Sad. lol

Still at least u have that sensation that you realise your basically playin out messages from your mind and arnt in the real world where anything can happen.
All of my LD so far have been DILDS and all of them have been nightmares, the last one i got was where alot of people around me in a huge house were being killed or dying and then there was just me left. I walked past a room and there was a room full of spiders with a giant spider in the middle, i ran and hid inside a wardrobe in the next room and the giant spider ripped the doors off, thats when i thought that this was impossible and basically i shut my eyes and said im dreaming now stop. When i opened my eyes i was stood in the middle of an empty room with light eluminated walls.
Then i started to experiment and enjoy another lucid.
