      Epic dreams.

I feel I am the only one with boring non-lucids. All I do is go about doing normal activities. I rarely have epic dreams, such as adventures, sword fights, flying, etc. Is there a way to provoke this? I play a lot of games that has these things but no dreams. I tried to incubate but that failed too .

Am I the only one with non epic dreams?

Watch more epic movies! Think epic thoughts! Do epic things! End all your sentences in exclemation marks!

      Focus.
Make it a personal LD goal, think about it more, FOCUS.

No, you're not the only one. Though I have some interesting dreams, mostly they're just... well, boring. On more than one occasion I have dreamt about something I thought about a lot during the day, or something that surprised me. Try focusing on a particular thing before going to bed for a few days, see if that works for you.

If all else fails: BE PATIENT. You are bound to have some kind of interesting dream sooner or later. You could always aim for perfect control of your dreams

Try reading interesting books. Reading does more for developing your imagination than watching movies or playing games.

My dreams have always been exciting and I've done a lot of reading and daydreaming when I was a kid.

Try an excercise: Imagine someone you would like to be, a dictator for example. Then try to build all the details around that, where would you live (an island for example), take a walk through your mansion, design your uniform...
Think and develop different 'exciting' scenarios (spy, commando, bank robber...) and see where it gets you

Geez, if mine were like that, I don't know if I'd bother with my DJ. I'm pretty lazy with it as it is.

If you tend to think a lot of random/epic thoughts during the day, naturally, (not like, "Hmm... what's something epic I can think about") then you'll most likely have epic dreams. If you can tell your friend how there's going to be a zombie apocolypse because she threw an empty Pepsi bottle at you, without stopping to think, (I did that today, lol) then your dream brain will also be able to create equally random and epic senarios.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, find a way to get your creative juices flowing, or something that could increase your creativity. The more creative you are when awake, the more creative you are when asleep.
What if I told you that I am dreaming right now?
That your whole life is a lie?
That the laws of physics as you know them are incorrect?

Furthermore, what would you do if I told you I'm going to wake up as soon as you finish reading my signature?

Yeah, I have really boring dreams.

Very rarely do I get something interesting.

Just do what other people have said - Read, Watch, Play.

Perfect advice. I read a lot before I entered uni and my imagination was wild, although, I have no clue how my dreams were since my dream recall is pretty bad

My imagination is very active. I watched Dark Knight and Eagle Eye shortly before going to bed. I really wanted a dream about it. I get a dream about walking around a lake/ getting mauled by a bear/ and accidently killing my friend That was a night. I also have read the Eragon/Harry Potter series.

I'll try reading his dream journal, surely it will provoke a badass dream Thanks

I think most people's non-lucid dreams are boring but you do get lucky sometimes and get an interesting one

I can't help but think that assertion is based more on anecdotes than it is on actual fact. I'd submit that reading is not necessarily better for one's imagination as a whole, but rather for certain aspects of one's imagination. Likewise, video games and movies have their own advantages over reading, as far as their influence on creative thinking goes. In my own theory, of course.

Anyway, I have had quite a few epic dreams, but more often than not, my dreams take place in normal settings, and the DCs featured are typically friends and family. And occasionally enemies. That doesn't mean they're always boring, however. In fact, they're rarely boring. Strange shit happens in my dreams' real-life-like settings all the friggin' time, I swear...

I've been somewhat lacking in truly awesome dreams these past four months or so - with a couple exceptions - and I might tally this up to the fact that I haven't played a good video game nor read a good book in a while. Basically, listen to what everybody else here is telling you: watch epic movies, read epic books, play epic video games, think epic thoughts, daydream epic daydreams, eat, sleep and breathe epic, etc., etc....

I didn't really base it on any hard scientific evidence
It's just my opinion based on how reading differs from watching movies or playing games.
Reading (being immersed in the book, not just skimming and reading just the 'interesting' parts) really forces your mind to actively imagine every scene in the book. That's what makes it very useful for developing imagination.

I agree about video games, they require creative thinking and problem solving. Also, very useful for dreaming and visualization, they help develop spatial awareness.
But I think movies do very little for your imagination. Creative process connected to movies is mostly carried out by directors, screenwriters and actors, viewer is just a passive observer. Of course there are 'smart' movies that will make you think, but it seems to me like going through someone elses vision would have less impact than creating your own.

Sooooo...... You're saying he has to make a movie? >.>
      Lol.

Meh, I don't think video games will help that much unless you play them a lot. Reading one or two books can really help get your creativity flowing. But video games? I think that playing one video game doesn't really help that much. Being a hard-core gamer, however, probably would. Of course, most people who would like to be one already is. Even one video game can probably give you new ideas as to weapons, powers, creatures, ect. for your dreams, if you're already creative enough to use/incorporate them, but I don't think it will help your overall creativity very much.

Yes, that's the point. He has to make a movie, in his head.
