I need some help deciphering common occurrances in my dreams

I have been recording my dreams via journal for quite some time (months) and I'm at the point where I can remember my dreams every night. I'm trying to get to lucidity, however the problem lies in my not remembering to do my reality checks in my dreams.

The only other option I see is to use what is normally occurring and try to use that as a trigger. Ex. "I'm entering this type of building again, so do a reality check"

Here are things I normally dream about:

      1) I normally dream about staying in a hotel.
      2) This might sound weird, but there are always women trying to have sex with me and I turn them down.
      3) I often exhibit violence on other people or violence other people do to myself
      4) I tend to get angry quite often when awaking from dreams. This is not during every dream, but I am easily pissed when I wake up. One example was being stabbed and no one would help me get to the hospital, so I became pissed off.

If anyone should help me I'd love to return the favor. I figure if I can figure out why I am having these types of dreams then I can figure how to become lucid.

One a side note, when I was younger (adolescent and below) I would dream every night, and every night would be lucid. It was incredible. I could do anything I wanted, and I never really tried to have dreams.

I think the point here is that because I could remember my dreams I had every night, I was able to realize when I was dreaming and when I wasn't, therefore allowing me to attain lucidity quite easily.

I think any advice I can give is to get a lot of sleep, as numerous sources say that you have more and more REM sleep the more you stay in sleep. As a child I was getting over 10 hours a night, where as now I'm only getting 6. Perhaps the more lucid dreaming takes place during the later hours of REM, ex. hours 7 - 10, where I normally am awake.

      Just something to think about.

      Thanks everyone.

hmm, maybe you should RC before going to bed and when you wake up. Also, RC whenever you are in or near a hotel and for those other three points. If you repeatly have them, then RCing in RL will cause you to RC in a dream

      Firstly welcome to dream views.

I'm no professional but I can give you a few hints, that may help.

      • First off, I read that studies have proven that trying too hard can be counterproductive for learning to have lucid dreams. Maybe just let it go for a while.
      • In my experience, if doing reality checks became a habit, which you do often enough a day, you will sooner or later do them in you dream. I think you do not even have to look for dreamsigns, try to do it every hour/every two hours or something like this.
•Use other methods. Apart from reality checking, there are few other methods, and in my opinion everyone should try the different methods and look what comforts him. Alltough it is said to be hard for beginners, you may try WILD. I personaly like this technique more than DILD, because if you get used to it after some time, the chance of having a ld when you want it gets simply bigger.

I hope I could help you and good luck

      Cheers
