Dream Recall. How Many a Night?

I heard about lucid dreaming, and fell in love with the idea of controlling the dream world. I decided to start keeping a dedicated dream journal to aid in recall. I began the journal four days ago.

Before I began on my quest for lucidity I hadn't remembered a single dream in months. before that I would only remember about one dream every month or so.

Since I have started keeping a dream journal I have not gone a single night without remembering at least one vivid dream, and two or three fragments. they have also been becoming definitively more and more vivid and complete. I started the journal on wednesday, I go to school and have had to get up at around 6:15, but I have still had a decent amount of time to dream.

However Friday night (last night) when I had nothing to disturb be from my slumber, and had plenty of time to sleep, and write down, and recall my dreams, I had 8 very clear dreams none of which were fragments.

This seemed to be for myself not only proof that dream recall if definitly a skill that I am having no trouble quickly devealoping, but that I may very well on my way towards obtain lucidity in the not so distant future.

My question is how many dreams (and I know everyone is different) do most people recall clearly a night on average. I am looking for a generalized, and than many individual answers as well. Thanks!

EDIT: last night (only night number five) I recalled another eight dreams! this time they were much more complex in storyline and in detail! at least twice as long, clear and vivid than last night! best dreams yet!!! I am definitly making clear and steady progress every single night. ^_^_^_^

On average i can usually recall 2-3 dreams a night. They vary in clarity and vividness- weekdays hinder dream recall because of the time at which i have to wake up- weekends are often free time for dreaming and i can get maybe 4 or 5 clear, complete ones

Thanks alot! I am new here obviously, so I wasn't around for that discussion, thanks for the link.

does the fact that I went from never remembering any dreams to remembering eight dreams clearly in one night mean that I am on my way to lucid dreaming?? do I have potential?!?!?!?!

I like the way that you have set your process and have methodically begun carrying it out. You are getting results and this is also good. I, a while back, developed my own dreaming experiment and got results...actually the results were nothing short of incredible.
My space is limited and so I will just say that one nightI logged 139 dreams what a night.

It is very possible...this was the culmination of a process to understand the way the mind works and at the same time asking for special answers.
This process took several months and the night of many dreams, as I call it, was the answer...
It was nothing short of incredible, to me.

This isnt actually having like 139 dreaming periods, all your dreams did was scenes changing really fast.

Or at least that's how it goes.

With all due respect, I know dreams, and I certainly know mine. There were 139. I used a matrix system to keep track. They were individual dreams even though some were sequential.

The most I ever recalled were four or five, which is excellent in my opininion. Even when I didn't recall four or five, it was always 2 or 3. So it was cool; they were pretty detailed dreams too.

I just started working on my dream recall three days ago. My average is two complete (normally very long) dreams and a fragment a night, but last night I had four dreams and remembered them all perfectly. They all felt very real, but none of them were lucid.
      “A dreamer is
      one
who can only find their way by moonlight,
      and their punishment
is that they see dawn before
      the rest of the world.”

It was quite a process that I employed to get that quantity. It all had to do with a persistant request (that I submitted many times) to more fully understand the processes of the mind and how dreams subjectmatter is selected and presented. All I can say (without writing volumes is, WOW.)
Most nights I I my remember 3 to 5 dreams...but now I am aware that much more information is passed via the subconscious...kind of like a memory dump so that awareness, and balance is achieved.

So how did you remember 139 dreams that night? Teach me how you did it, I'm highly motivated to perfect dream recall.

You will have to trust me on this one. Ok I know that you do not know me, but for the past seven or so years I have been posting on other dream sites and I am credible.
If I were to go into detail about the exercises and efforts that prepared me for this it would take chapters and lots of hours (which I do not have). I have been working with the subconscious mind via dreams for years and I was finally told through dream sequences that I would be allowed to explore the workings of the mind. This all sounds strange but it is real...and I was given an incredible journey into the mind and the way that it selects the subject matter (the information), how it prioritizes it's dream offerings and presentations, and the significance thereof. What an incredible dream sequence it was. I was in total awe!
I had no control...it was not a lucid dream, but it was factual in it's approach and I was allowed to watch the incredible workings that make all this possible.

Again what I have just said has surely made me sound a bit off the edge but I am not...not at all.

      Regards,

Haha, while googling you I found a couple of very nice sites, that's great

Ok... So as I understand you were "contacting" your subconscious through your dreams for years and eventually sent a request to let you remember a lot of dreams, right? It "explained" to you how it works using those dreams.

I'm kind of unsure about 139 though, were they all very short? After all, the difficultry lies not in having them, but in remembering them. I can't imagine that one day you simply managed to remember so many without training for that specifically, only by requesting your subconscious to show you how dreams work.

You have it a bit mixed up, but I can tell you that there were about ten sequences of dreams and my method for remembering and recording them is quite effective for me.
Bythe way the average dream lasts 30 seconds real time.

I tend to think that when people speak about grand achievements but hide their methods, that means they have nothing to say. Why you'd want to boast about something you haven't achieved I have no idea, though.

      Arutad,
      With all due respect,
I have said what I have said, and it is the truth. If you choose not to believe me, it is your choice; nevertheless, I cannot understand that someone who does notunderstand, or has no knowledege of or foundation of this particular subject matter could call someone a who speaks from knowledge and experience, a liar.
If I chose to explain this here, in this forum it would take an enormous amount of time and effort, neither of which I have. In addition, this is not proper format to write a book.
I have spent years on this site and others similar, helping dreamers to understand their dreams, and teaching them how to evaluate their dreams. It should not matter to me what you think (and for what it is worth it really does not) but I feel that you crossed the line by your accusation that I am boasting, and speaking untruths.
I apologize to everyone who reads my comments here, as anger and ranting also have no place in this forum. I could not contain my dissapointment that someone could

      Continued...do what you have done.
In any case, I have vented and feel a bit better. In the future, please be more certain of the facts before you incinuate that they are lying.

Are you kidding me, Mr. Polite? I've met people like you before. A lot of talk with vague hints at grand achievements, and a lot of excuses about inability to tell others how those achievements could possibly happen.

If you truly dismiss everybody as stupid or too inexperienced to understand your majesty, then why did you come to tell your tales at all? It was obvious that somebody would ask questions after such an announcement like you made here. I can see only one reason, a dishonest ego game.

So I see that you just wanted to elicit anger. I am not angry. Perhaps I just do not understand someone who chooses to blindly ridicule so as to try to elevate himself.
