      Why can't I dream?

Hello all! I'm new here (This will be my first thread) and I mainly joined in order to learn to lucid dream. However, I noticed a lot of methods require you to remember your previous dream as much as possible or write in a dream journal. I would love to try out these methods, but I don't dream very often, or I very rarely remember my dreams. Maaaybe three times per month on average, give or take a little. And even then, my dreams usually are pretty boring. I've only ever had a lucid dream once, and it was on accident. Is there anything I can do to increase my dreams?

      Welcome to DreamViews!
To start off, you do dream. Unless you have some sort of rare brain disorder, everyone dreams. You just don't remember them. Here on DV, there are lots of tutorials and people willing to help you gain recall. I'd highly recommend you get a dream journal. It helps a lot.
      Happy dreaming, and good luck!

Sorry, But did you even read his post?

I don't have many dreams either. They say telling yourself "I will remember my dreams" before going to bed helps, and lying in bed with your eyes closed after you wake up to let the dream come to you does wonders.

whoops i just scanned through, yes laying in bed with your eyes closed after sleep does help. also ask your self what did dream about? and for some reason each time I fail a WILD I may not go lucid but I remember most everything I dreamed about during the night.

wake up 4 hours after falling asleep. This is the most active REM period. Oh, and it takes seven minutes for someone to fall asleep.

It takes the average person ~7 minutes to fall asleep, and 4 if you are sleep deprived.

It's impossible to not dream. You just don't remember then.

I used to not remember my dreams. Then I really started wanting to and they suddenly became much more frequent and vivid. The whole thing was alarmingly abrupt.

As people stated above. You do dream, it reminds me of a Star Treak episode where no one could dream. They had halluciations and killed each other. Sadly this is true, they have done the same to rats and cats in real life and they all died from not dreaming. (They wake up the animal when they enter REM) I just started and thought I couldn't remember any dreams at first either, but I am already getting 2 dreams a night. There are certain vitamins you can take to help you increase Dream Recall they say. Also, yes KEEP A DREAM JOURNAL! And a way of waking up after REM is to drink a lot of a liquid (not caffine ) before bed.
