Did you believe? Today, say the same things out loud again. YELL them out loud. Believe the words you are saying. If you don't believe your sick of being unconscious while you sleep, then it won't happen. Learn to believe it, and it just might.

Note: May I suggest trying something simpler than never having a normal dream again? Perhaps just for tonight so you can show your subconsciousness who is the boss in your brain? After that, you may believe your original thesis even more.

Why don't you want to sleep normally?

How can your emotions take control over you when you are unconscious?

      Why do you hate it?

"Why don't you want to sleep normally?"

Because I don't like dreams that I cannot control.

"How can your emotions take control over you when you are unconscious?"

Easily, because I cannot think rationally, so I'm driven by my emotions, and false "common sense"

      "Why do you hate it?"

I like being aware of myself, and I like doing what I really want, therefore I don't like not being aware, and not doing what I want... :/

      Moved to General Dream Discussion.

If you'd like it moved to General Lucid Discussion, let me know.

Hey SolvedSnake, would you say that you are afraid of sleep and the whole being unconscious thing. This can be related to anxiety and is caused by diet as well as other things. I have suffered this too, at times I will put off going to bed becuase of the anxiety that surrounds sleeping for me.

I have never liked not being in control of my body and emotions, even when I was younger I didn't enjoy bedtimes becuase of this. It is hard to describe, I don't enjoy the complete nothingness you have when asleep and not dreaming, even though you aren't aware of it (see, it's complicated). I'am also scared I might not wake up, not like have a heart attack or anything, just not wake up. It's just the feeling of being unconscious and paralyzed.

A huge thing I have at times is being scared to go to sleep becuase I think my body will stop breathing, I know this is not true but I can't shift the thought. I do obsess over my breathing in times of stress. It is almost as like I can't get enough air and I will take huge breaths to try and even it out but it just makes it worse and it sends me into a panic attack and my chest really starts to hurt. This doesn't happen a lot, just a few times.

I have lots of crazy thoughts in my head most of the time and I'll just sometimes think of anything while lying in bed basically until by brain physically can not stay awake any longer which is usually about 3-4am.

I hate this becuase it leaves me tired all day and usually in a bad mood, can anyone relate to anything I've said.

What kind of uncontrollable emotions? They usually seem very controllable unless you actively start trying to control them. I've never heard anything alike, trying to determine what you're talking about.

How do you define the difference between controllable and uncontrollable? With dreams it's clear, they're in an unconscious state, but what about daily life?

I guess this can describe what I'am trying to say, http://www.panic-anxiety.com/phobias/somniphobia/. I have suffered from night time panic attacks which stem from obsessing over my breathing etc, this does also happen during the daytime and it is awful. I don't know if it's OCD or just some anxiety because I do quite often get tics, you know like tourettes sufferers but without the swearing.

I just have a fear of being unconscious and out of control, that's the only way I can describe it. In daily life I can be a bit of a, well I don't like the term 'control freak' but that's about it. I'am not very trusting of others and if I'm not in control of something like my stuff or a certain situation then I really worry about it. I don't know, call it paranoia, anxiety disorder, OCD, I have no idea it's just not very nice.

Hmm I went to sleep at 1:00 In the morning, and I could lie there without falling asleep till about 3:00.
Ah well, I try again tonight.

Not all dreams must be under your control. Enjoy your normal dreams as much as your lucids if you like puzzles you'll find normal dreams very lucrative.
Jujutsu is the gentle art. It's the art where a small man is going to prove to you, no matter how strong you are, no matter how mad you get, that you're going to have to accept defeat. That's what jujutsu is.

Don't think I gave up on my concsious dreaming.
Although concsious is just another state of the mind, it is much more fun than being unconscious.
