I know the feeling a little perhaps. I've woken up a few times feeling sexually aroused in a really strange but pleasant way. I think it was activated by the sexual content of the dreams I were having before waking up.

Engorment (for want of a better word lol) of the human sexual organs, for both genders, is a guaranteed part of the REM stage of dreaming. In fact, it's such a basic and definite part of dreaming sleep that if dreaming sleep hadn't been called REM, it'd have probably been called something like AGS - Aroused Genital Sleep haha.

As for the good sensations, well, who knows, but certainly your body is in a state that is more receptive to them in REM.

I would imagine that you are getting this to some kind of level above the average, or perhaps unlike others, it remains for longer after awakening, whereas for most people it may fade before awakening. Nothing to worry about at all. Perfectly normal. In fact it's a sign of good health I would imagine.

In fact, one test for erectile disfunction in men, to establish if it is psychological or physical in cause, is to make a ring of postage stamps around the limp penis before bed. Because an erection is so guaranteed during REM phases, if the ring of postage stamps is unbroken in the morning, it gives evidence to suggest the cause is physical. Otherwise, for most normal healthy guys or those suffering psychological erection issues it'll be broken.
