What happens if you dream about being lucid?

If you have a dream where you were in a lucid dream, would you be lucid or would it just simulate you being lucid? If you are dreaming about lucidity, would it cause you to become lucid? If not, would you be restricted to what you could do in the dream and would you have limited free will?

I had a dream where I was dreaming about being lucid where I could not actually control myself or anything, it was just like a normal dream except in the dream I knew I was dreaming but my mind didn't actually think about that (the whole you just go along with dreams thing) and the dream just continued. It's kinda hard to explain.

This happens to me all the time, and no, i don't become lucid. But sometimes i say: When i shake my head, i will REALLY be lucid. sometimes works, sometimes don't.

But it's exactly what Dying Dignity said.

I once dreamed that I was in a class that taught lucidity and critical state testing, showing two slides, one a normal picture of a field and clouds and another one where the clouds spelled out strange hieroglyphics. I didn't get lucid.

These are the kinds of questions that keep me up at night.
Haven't had a lucid dream in 3 years, and I'm looking to get back into it.

I know just what you mean. Is there a name for those kind of dreams?

some times i wonder if we just are never in control of our dreams, we just think we are and were always just getting convinced by our brains that we are in control.

Nah, dream events are often self contained and effect the dream world and not you directly. For instance, sometiems in a LD decide to do something but then I reconsider and do something else. Dreams couldn't manipulate my choice like that, I don't believe.

Watch out! The dreams are always controlling you, no matter what your mind says. Then again... Your mind can make anything true, and if you believe it is true does it not make it so?
